First you need to send the original to him so you can prove you own it. I believe you had to send him a new HD as well. Then you had to wait around 2 weeks (he said that he gets a lot of orders). I can not remember how much he charged, but I do not think it was much. Unfortunately I was to lazy to do it so I still have a dead KI Board/HDD sitting on my wall.
Now that we these emulator being released I will be happy. It will be an awesome substitute to playing the arcade game. If KI2 worked fine (which I believe it will) expect a rise in prices on eBay. At least I know I will buy one.
It is cool to display PCB's in a shadow box in your Game room.
