i'll ask again. is there a way to use midi music instead of adlib emulation? midi would sound MUCH better then this adlibtunes. is there a way to get a midi sequencer emulated on xbox?  if not, its ok,too. the only thing that is left to make this emu PERFECT, is the german text support for Monkey3 ;-)

it might be possible with directsound (which has support for midi), but i have no expierence with that, i will take a look at it someday tho. for now only adlib emulation is available.

also the german text will be fixed in the next release.

No, but the scummvm team are working on a module called "residual" that can play grim tho.

I'm trying to get sam and max working under scummvm. I copied everything from the samnmax folder on the original talkie CD to a folder under my scummvm folder but when I go to add a game and browse to the folder nothing shows up. Can anyone give me a clue as to what I may be doing wrong?

You only need SAMNMAX.000 SAMNMAX.001 and MONSTER.SOU (or reencode monster.sou to mp3 and it's called monster.so3)
Put them in a separate folder, for example SamNMax_talkie ... add game in scummvmx, goto the folder
with samnmax files, you'r not supposed to see any files just press "Choose" and the game is added.

It still saves in the same folder as the game, this makes saving from DVD/cd-rw impossible (might also hang the autosave?).

I made it save the savegame to the U: drive (save game partition) when the gamedatapath is non writeable (ie loading a game from disc).

I have not tested it tho, but it should work.

Not sure if this is relevant, but I remember when Rise of the triad was being ported, there was no music since it was midi. But later this was resolved. A quick search on www.lantus-x.com mentions the use of "timidity - MIDI library". Does this help or is this already being used?

by the way, what games are NOT playable from dvd? i found Monkey3 does not load correct, and the dig takes too long to load. except that all works fine. even fullthrottle (i think..)  ;-)
what is your experience with booting from dvd-r?

Any shortcut to bypass sam n max (floppy) copy protection, seem to have lost the manual, or point me in the direction of a remedy/fix.

The classic LA games were among the best games Ive ever played, but since upgrading to WINXP I missed out on playing them (due to no DOS support) and all my Lucas Arts games have been gathering dust - untill now!!

Well done

Rich

it's no problem to get the old LA games running on XP
just google for +monkey island +xp
and you'll get a tool (i forgot the name wink.gif which makes it all possible, sound included
beerchug.gif
my problem with the newest scummvmx release is that i can't play the monkey island games (1+2), i got the stupid code thing, but no keyboard ... so i hope that a next release will come

After playing The Dig again, I closely listened  to the voiceactor of Boston Low and came to the conclusion: This must be George W. Bush.
Check it out for yourself, it must be him :> No matter what the credits say!
