You're sure you're using the real v6, right?  You'll know it's the right one if you see graphics filters with scanlines.

If so, then I'd suggest dumping the packets from XBMP during a successful SMB connection and comparing between the two.

wongtong - everything will be getting updated.

godkillax - The error message was not implemented until a few releases ago.  If you did not have the BIOS file and you selected BIOS mode anyway, it would just fall-through and put you in HLE mode.  If you want to use BIOS mode, you need the BIOS file which is not included with pcsxbox anymore.

Go to "configure game" from the main menu - that will let you change BIOS or HLE mode.  Find SCPH1001.BIN and put it in D:\BIOS directory.  Run SOTN in BIOS mode.  HLE mode with SOTN has problems.

QUOTE (D-Back @ Jul 14 2003, 05:59 AM)
Well just wanted to give a follow up on my problems... I ended up having to go back to V5 as V6 just kept locking up when trying to load after every few boots and putting corrupted data on my hd. I still cant figure out what went wrong though and hopefully when V7 smile.gif comes out i will have a smoother transistion.

I have been getting the same problem since SMB was introduced. Whether I'm using SMB or not to read the game bins, once I crash using an untested setting, the game will no longer start.

At first, this could be fixed by deleting the game data in the saves directory, then forcing pcsxbox to force read the ini file again, but since v6, that no longer works.

All my games I have crashed in now give me black screens upon boot, even if using "known" working settings sad.gif

I truly love this emu, it has rekindled my love affair with the RidgeRacer series, I can't wait for all the bugs to be squashed, because this emu keeps getting better and better with every release.

I tried the record feature, and it works beatifully. My only comment on it however is that it's not very intuitive to use. For instance I find it combersome to exit out of the menu screen once the recording phase has started. Once you press Y to accept the savestate being saved/loaded, the menu should drop you back into the game. When recording another replay, it would be nice to have the option to overwrite the current replay, or be prompted to record a new one. The current setup requires you to create a new savepoint, then begin recording. Simply going to record after capturing a previous session will only take you back to the begining of your previous recording once the save state is loaded. A little convoluted, but it works, and that's all that matters.

Lastly, this emu already supports MP3 playback, as well as playlists. One thing I've been doing lately is replacing the SOTN track with my own favorite RidgeRacer songs. While this port can reproduce my favorite game's gameplay faithfully, it misses the mark when it comes to the audio. Music in the 32bit era was a big deal back then, and, it's a big part of the retro experience. I understand that this isn't a fault in the emulator, and I just wanted to port that out. Now, I feel special since my last request made it (recording), so here goes another request, MP3 game music support. Much like the SegaCD and TurboDuo, can you please incorporate mp3 soundtracks into your next rev? It's quite easy to change DA and XA files to mp3s using this great freeware Game Audio Player it's what I've been using to enjoy the original RidgeRacer music whenever I play pcsxbox.

Thanks again for your effort, I've had some great times playing all my RidgeRacer games again, I never thought I'd play them again, I'm really glad you brought them back from the dead  beerchug.gif

lol smb shares still dont work for me. I have the same thing happen to me as D-Back. oh well its still a kick ass emu even without the smb sharing smile.gif

Even though the nameserver is defined, I still can only get SMB to work using this method:

smb://admin:password@mshome:192.168.0.1/mcp/psx

in otherwords:

smb://Administrator's Account:Password@Workgroup:PC's IP/PC's Name/Folder Shared

That seems to work for everyone as long as you make sure to force load the pcsx.ini file again in the configuration menu!
