PCSXBox - PSX Emulator for XBox v6

What's New:
- Samba/NetBIOS fix.  This should hopefully fix the problems that some people
have been having with Samba/NetBIOS shares.
- New SKIN features :
+ Can specify 2 sprites to surround the selected menu option
Be sure to re-install the PCSXBOX_DEFAULT skin in this package
      to see an example.
+ Option to have a transparent select-bar color (from select-color menu)
- Fixed bug where MP3 would start up again after game ends even if it was stopped.
- All *.PNG screenshots in screenshots dir will be displayed on game select
  screen regardless of filename now.
- Fixed bug where fade speed of 0 resulted in game-loading screen not displaying
- New graphics filters :
    + 2xSai Scanline
    + Super 2xSai Scanline
    + Eagle Scanline
    + Super Eagle Scanline
    + SuperScale Scanline
- New netplay option to allow for smoother netplay : netplay skip.
When server starts netplay, you can select a netplay skip value.
This number specifies how often it should skip checking for network data.
The higher the number, the less often it checks for network data, but the
result will be a less responsive controller.

Stella, Gnuboy, SMSPlus, FCEUltra, HUGO, NeoPop, DGen, Bochs, HUGO-CD, FMSXBox,
Bliss, WinSTon, Gens, Z26, StepmaniaX, PCSXBox....what's next?

Enjoy!

There are two features I'd like to see implemented in the interface (note: I'm in no way demanding these):

1: The STG file doesn't save the default Graphics Filter. This is a must for games such as Resident Evil - which relies on AdvanceMAME in order to run at an acceptable framerate.  It's possible to turn on AdvanceMAME during a Resident Evil session but when I exit and play another game (Mega Man 8 for instance), AdvanceMAME is still on, which causes the game to slowdown a hell of a lot.

If possible, it would be great if the STG file could tell PCSXbox which graphics filter needs to be used.    It would make the upcoming STG archive far more noob-friendly.

2: The ability to turn off menu entries in the main menu. For instance, let's say I don't want "Show Screenshots" or "Configure Game" to be shown, I could turn these off in the Settings Menu or they could be turned off in the INI file. This would also help out lots for the Right Thumb popup menu - people could reorganise the menus to suit their own needs.

If these features are already in the new version, then I apologize for bringing it up - I had a hell of a time downloading PCSXbox V5 on Xbins FTP due to my slow connection, so it'll be some time before I can test this one.

Congratulations igotgame

Dante_ali - first suggestion will definitely be implemented.
Second one - removing menu options - don't know about that one.  If it were just for the main menu, then maybe since that would just be one menu and I could custom.  What you're asking for would require a significant rewrite of some of the core menu routines.  I'll have to think about it.

Will this ever be able to play real PSX discs? or is it a hardware limitation? Also my Xbox doesnt read CDRs/CDRWS, would it read a PSX disc? (assuming an Xbox could read one)

At the moment it does not read original PSX cds nor does it read CDR/CDRW copies.

As far as if it will "ever" do so - who can predict the future?  Trying to explain why it doesn't work would require pages and would probably be meaningless technical information to most of the readers.  There is some kind of roadblock between the XDK libs and/or  the kernel/bios and/or the actual DVDROM hardware in regard to reading XA Mode2 sectors.  (Note - XA Mode2 sectors are different than VCD Mode2 sectors.)  Enough said.

If you have access to a DVD burner I believe it supports bin/cue, iso, img etc to be read off the disc.

Me and

(IMG:http://galeon.hispavista.com/parasite-eve/aya.jpg)

would like to thank you.

Finally I can play

(IMG:http://www.icybrian.com/reviews/parasiteeve.gif)

the way I love it - with scanlines. This also leaves me without the need to modchip my PS2 for playing it (I got a PAL one, unable to play my NTSC Parasite EVE).
