Okay, I have everything set as you have instructed. Testing with MK3. Auto(0) will  somtimes cycle through to 5 and the throttl would drop as low as 83%. FPS between 30 & 53

With MK2 Auto never went hight than 3 and throttle stayed within 100%-110%. FPS between 40-53. Both games sound still filled with static

Same results here, Im pretty sure I did the same correct procedure as well eventhough I'm a newb to all the settings.  Still I appreciate that it works even better than before!

I'm glad someone confirms it.  I'll have to check it out again and see if I can reproduce the same results.  So far I haven't been able to get the infamous sound bug to rear it's ugly head since going to .71.1b.

I have only heard of two at the present time - Operation Wolf (which is now fixed on dev. CVS) and Lethal Enforcers 2.  If there are more people should let me know or file a bug report.

OK, I think this is a problem with mame.  If you can do just one more thing for me, load up mk3 in mame32 - v.71.  This may have just been introduced in this release.  I hear the same sound problems.  Please check for me and confirm.  I don't want to bother Erik with this unless I'm sure it's something in mameox that is the problem - but right now, if it's in mame32 there's nothing we can do about it (unless he knows how to fix the core and wants to).

Mk2&3 both tested fine with Mame32 71. No sound glitches. So it must not be the roms. I havent tried any other romes with MameoX 71b to see if they are experiancing any of the sound glitches. Note that UMK3 also has sound issues with mameox.

I would expect that since mk3 is umk3's parent.

Again, I hear the same sound glitches in mame32 .71.  I'm not sure if it's because my laptop is cpu restrained (it's a p3 ~700 Mhz), but the roms play choppy, and the sound is absolutely terrible, just like you say it is in MAMEoX.  Some of the sound is fine, just like mameox is, it seems like any time there is a voice or sound effect sample it breaks up and produces excessive static.  Many people have complained that the MK series as well as NBA JAM / TE play worse than they do in prior versions.  I'm not sure who is making these changes to the mame core sound / cpu drivers to make them do this, but since MAMEoX is a port, we get these updated drivers and we integrate them in every release.

I have read that to run these games flawlessly you should be running something in the neighborhood of 750 + Mhz.  I'm not sure that without optimizations that we'll be able to be able to get these running as they should.  If anyone else can confirm choppy sound in mame32 it would be appreciated.  More importantly, if you're not running something past the 1 Ghz barrier (since the xbox does not run this), it would be nice to hear from you.

A Noodle,
Is this sorta the same problem with games like Stun Runner?  Is there any tweaks or something else we can try to optimize the performance?

Also, Dungons & Dragons - out of memory

Didn't have much time to go through too much last night..

Good luck.  That rom requires 95,456 K to run in mame32.  Unless advance mame for linux is creating memory for your xbox to use I think you're going to be stuck.

To be stuck...

I would like to know if there is Mame for PCSX.
Maybe, we could play with under PCSXbox.

Listen to what noodle is telling you.

There is not enough memory for it, period.

Unless pcsxbox is going to magically add more ram to your xbox, you are probably NEVER going to play metal slug x.

It's strange, games like Marvel Vs. Capcom Mame work perfectly with FBaX, CP-S 1 & 2 (Capcom only) emulator for X-Box.

**Rant On**

Are you a moron or just illiterate? Have you not read the 1000 posts by Noodle and others regarding ROMs exceeding the XBOX's built-in memory limit?

FBaX runs the CPS1 & 2 games because that's all it does (and it does it well)! Why don't you cry to the FBaX author why his program doesn't run the other 1000+ games MAMEoX runs?

**Rant Off**

Read some of the pinned subjects in the emulator forum to get a better understanding of the limitations of emulation on the XBOX.

I have Metal Slug X for psx, so I could see you using pcsxbox for it.  It's nowhere near arcade quality, but it's a good port to the psx.

About CPS 1 / 2 games that work in FBAx, that's not surprising at all.  FBA is _made_ to run those games and those games only.  There are a lot of games that are very close to running in MAMEoX that run in FBAx too, but memory prevents us from doing so.  FBAx will probably _always_ run more CPS 1 / 2 games than MAMEoX.

You might have noticed that a lot of your MAME roms don't load in FBAx.  laugh.gif  FBAx is very good at what it does - CPS 1 / 2 games, nothing else.

Mame-X & MAMEoX don't use sufficiently X-Box's RAM or there isn't enough RAM in the X-Box ?
