dante_ali - The subgame isn't really 100% - it's just been modified by about 20%. No, I don't have any intention of making a homebrew game with it, although something certainly could be done in that respect. My hands will be pretty full with rolling out this new interface to the other ports. (Once the wrinkles have been ironed out.)
I already did optimize the software plugin before releasing v1. Obviously, a hardware plugin would work much better, but I have no control over that. Writing one from scratch would take months and months and it's certainly not something I have much of an interest in doing.
The users already do have a way of switching between 320x240 and 640x480 mode....it's called turning off the graphics filters. W/o a graphics filter, you are technically running in 1x mode. The game screen fills the whole television screen because the 320x240 image is hardware scaled to 640x480 (or whatever size you have specified in the configuration.) Hardware scaling has negligible impact (possibly even no impact) on the speed. All of the graphics filters essentially quadruple each pixel - so you end up with a 640x480 screen. (They perform smoothing/blending/etc algorithms to the pixels also, obviously)
re:multitap - As I've stated before in other threads, if you know of an open-source psx pad plugin that supports multitap, I'll add it.
cabrill - I also read your Suikoden post in the compatibility thread and it just does not make any sense to me. The *only* change made to the core was a minor change to the sound plugin that fixes a reverb effect. There is no way that change could result in Suikoden being fixed. Are you sure you are running the *exact* same settings in both v3 and v4?
jizzlobber - No, there is no analog support yet. No, compatibility has not changed since v2.
If anyone has tried out netplay, I'd be interested to hear how it fared for them across the Internet.
