I'm not sure if it's on the public cvs tree or not, but I use Tortise CVS to pull off of CVS, Visual Studio.NET Enterprise Edition w/5558 (June).  Works pretty well for me, just follow the instructions that come with the source.

I went from 69 to 70 and wow, what an improvement.  I have to say by far mameox is the dominate mame emulator.

I think we got the sound problem fixed (buffer overrun in the sound code, Erik caught it and fixed it), I can't get it to start static sounding like it used to in spots

VSYNC is in now, we're trying to get it to work better than it already does, we still see some tears in the screen for some scrolling games

Tweaked out autoframeskip so it should work better for problem roms, implemented frameskip so you can adjust it yourself manually if you want to for roms that always run slow

We're trying to milk some more memory out of it right now, we 'gained some weight' with mame .71 source and we're trying to reduce memory requirements so more games will run.  The way we're doing it though will probably cause more roms to break, however.  No way around it.

When .71.b1 releases (tomorrow probably) we'll need testers to go through all the roms, we're looking for silent xbe dependencies (roms that need drivers that are unloaded, must load them so they can run instead of hang).  When we release tomorrow I'll announce it here and try to put together a testers list so we can test all the roms.  Since Erik is pumping out releases weekly and there's only a couple of offiical testers, the more help we have, the better - also good to confirm what one person thinks is a bug - sometimes it's not).

I'm still getting around to acquiring the xdk, but you can sign me up as a tester. I usually test a good number of roms with each release anyways. Also, since I haven't compiled it yet, I was wondering if you could say how well the zinc support works.

There aren't many zinc roms that work at all in mame32.  The only one I've managed to get running is Star Sweep (in mame32).  Most of them don't have proper graphics emulation or sound.

To answer your question though, they load, display rom info, but then barf with a malloc error and take you back to the romlist.

If you were the one that reported those bugs, I was the one that closed them.

Congo Bongo - works in next release
Tac/scan - works in next release
Vector games - works in next release

All of these work in the current cvs build.

Not sure about the artwork stuff, I don't really use it myself.

Yup, that was probably me that reported those issues. I'm not very familiar with the bugs page. Before posting, I was trying to search for similar reports with no luck.

Great to hear all those issues have been fixed.

Artwork is essential to Armor Battle because without it, you're driving blind (invisible walls). Without the artwork, you'll only see a jeep, a few tanks and a helicopter on the screen. The artwork shows the maze layout for you to drive in. I guess I'm the only idiot that played this game in the arcade   biggrin.gif

Assuming you're talking about the game Armor Attack, try redownloading your artwork from mame.net. This is working fine for me with artwork on in the current release.
