It doesn't take nearly that long for me to get back to the romlist.  That is really odd.  Perhaps you could post your situation on the sourceforge forums and Erik or Opcode could help you out there.  Your situation sounds interesting and they know the right questions to ask.

Sorry I wasn't much help.  sad.gif

It's too large to load into memory - but it doesn't lock up the emulator now. I got that rom just for you to try it out, and it sadly does not work.

(BTW, I think you're going to be really happy with Narc  go try it out!)

I think my enthusiasm was dampened a bit a month or so ago with Primal Rage when I actually decided to check it out on the PC.  It just didn't seem to have the same graphic luster froms days ago.  Not to mention not being able to hear "RAGGGEEEEEE" was a bit of a letdown.

I wish I could give the new version a sample and check Narc out, my Xbox is packed up and I'm off of broadband.   mad.gif   Do you know if it still has some of the slight resolution shifting that it's had in past versions.  Slices of the screen tend to shift a bit.

Noodles, I think maybe it's time for you to have a quote explaining that Metal Slug 3, 4, etc. aren't currently working and won't for the forseeable future.

I think that screen shifting is still in there, but it's not horrible.  I think that in the next release (here I go sounding like a broken record again smile.gif ) we should have vsync again as it was causing errors in 3b.  I'm sure it will probably be sorted out for the next release.  I have great faith in Erik and Opcode as what they've done so far is nothing short of amazing.

Yeah  laugh.gif  I probably do need to have something in my sig or something explaining that zipped roms over 64 MB have no chance of running in the forseeable future smile.gif

People just have to understand how mameox works - you have a compressed rom that you're loading and about 54 MB of memory to start with.  You use that space to uncompress the rom, load drivers, decode graphics, and start emulation.  Even if we do get virtual memory in the future it's important to realize that HD I/O is awful compared to having something in memory, which is uncomparably faster in read operations.  All of the rom contents, drivers, ect on these arcade machines had all of this stuff most of the time in ROM (read only memory) so it was available for the machine at the drop of a hat.  While virtual memory may work okay for other applications, it's doubtful to me that it's going to work without rewriting mame source to handle it.  If done you would probably have to create new drivers for all separate roms that were going to use it.  It's no secret to me that this task has been placed _way_ out in the future for the developers - it's going to require a lot of work, and the payoff possibilites are probably very low. smile.gif

Hey noodle,
Im not complaining here.  Lots of things were fixed in this one and mameoX is growing by leaps and bounds!.  Im noticeing on games that after playing a while sound goes bad, then back.  (much better than before) but whats happening here?  I would like to help you guys out.  I go through so many roms when A new version is out.  Let me know the key things your looking for and I will tell ya whats going on in the roms I do check. (which are quite A few)

Thanks!

I think the sound getting scratchy is due to a buffer underrun, and opcode is working on that for the next release, but this one has been hard to track down.  Opcode is the guy that originally ported mame (mamex) before he left the project to superfro.  I'm just a tester, I don't want people to think I have a hand in the code, I couldn't code my way out of a wet paper bag.  The sound problem is present in a lot of roms and it's already reported...the team knows and they're working on it, so don't bother reporting that one.

If you want to help, let the mameox team know if any roms cause mameox to crash (usually a hang after loading complete) - there is a db in the works with a web interface for reporting rom status in the release levels, but for now, check the bugs on the sourceforge site (linked multiple times in this topic) and if a rom doesn't load for whatever reason (even the ones reported below), report it as a bug.  If it's out of memory that's not a big deal but it will have low priority.  Check some of the other bugs reported for examples for what info to include (I've put a lot on the page, look at one of mine that is marked in white - low priority).

Sounds good.  I tried to report the gas pedal on offroad and stuff like that, but not sure if Im doing it correctly.  But thanks for the info, I will post back here on other rom problems I find.  The vector problem is crasy though.  Screens fine in menu mode, but blown up in play mode.   I will keep in touch!

You did fine.  I posted a comment in your bug about being able to configure the game with 255% pedal sensitivity (use L trigger) and remapping dial controls to left analog stick, left and right, using sensitivity around 30%.  Confirmed that the game did not work with the default controls.  Also posted that at 255% it doesn't seem like the pedal is all the way down to the floor, so Erik's going to look at it for us.

I like to include the following in my bug reports so there is no confusion.

Game name
Rom name
Rom size zipped / unzipped
Is it a clone? (yes or no, if yes, make sure you have parent rom if necessary)
Bios required? (example - neogeo)

Then just list a precise description of the error you encounter - either the message, or the thing that doesn't work that you think should work.  These bug reports should make things easy for Erik and Opcode to figure out what is wrong - they shouldn't have to go on a information seeking mission to figure out what the problem you report is.  Include what is above in your bug reports (until the new reporting system falz is working on is implemented) and your work will be well appreciated!

Also, please report each game _separately_ as people have been putting multiple roms in their bug reports, and the developers want to set priority for each bug reported.

Don't take it the wrong way if someone posts a comment in your report, Erik's asked us to try to confirm a lot of these bugs.  A lot of people post bugs that work for me, and we want Erik to know that he's not going crazy because users are reporting problems that he does not have.

Also seems like pole position (1 & 2) & road blasters are not configuring right.   Now what Im wondering is I got Rom Center.  Can I select roms that are cloned and roms that are not to be on the same list?  Then make a list out of that?  (POSSIBLY Ftp the fiLes baCK over?)

Im trying to make a list where I only have (1) 1942 game (instead of 3) and sky shark (seems only bootleg is available) in the same directory.  deffanitally trying to make my list smaller.  Just wondering if this is possible.  I know I need some roms from misc files.  Sorrys if there are caps.  Shift key is sticken!

Use the right thumbstick (when in the GUI) to change the screen size.
