What core does MAMEoX use? I was looking over their sourcefourge site and I could not find that information.

.70 as far as I know.  I think according to the rules of using mame your versioning has to be the same as version of the core you're using.  I could be wrong though.  I know that it recognizes some very recent roms (like Salamander 2) so it's a hell of a lot more recent than mamex (.61 core)

Well.  Narc 7.0 runs more choppy than ever while Primal Rage loads but still has the unable to start video note.

Try disabling sound (in rom list, B+Y) for Narc.  It works a lot better.  I know it's no fun to play these games without sound, but it does make a world of difference for this rom if the xbox isn't trying to emulate sound for this game.

I can't speak to Primal Rage.  I'll have to dl and see if it works for me, if not, another bug report!  laugh.gif

Golden Axe 2 plays again, but there are a lot of graphical issues like before the support was broken. When you goto a 3D sceen, the graphics mess up horrible. Can't wait to see it fixed.

Also Elevator Action 2 still says it can not start video what ever, this makes no sence it is a small game! :/

Ebair rocks. I submitted a bug, and even though it ended up not really being a bug, but an "issue", he added it to the readme file and was very cool about it!

Here's a suggestion to you MAME freakaholics. You would all love to see a 100% emu. There are a little less than 4000 ROMs (don't quote me on this). Why not form a group of people who have complete ROM sets, split up the sections evenly, and each person tests that section with each new release to determine bugs. Someone could come up with a reporting system so long descriptions don't have typed for each ROM.

Couldn't we just post on the sourceforge site, so that they are submitted right to the mameox team? That way we know which ones have been tested too...

Someone should ask about doing it! (Whoever wants to spearhead this operation)

The thing i like here in this forum was, when we put up a compability list, we can separate very well issues with the color codes, like red for not working, blue working etc. Its a thing i am not sure it will result very well on the sourceforge site. Not sure if they have that color thingy there.

Anyway i have already linked previous 0.63 list to them, and when i get the update to version 70 i will probably put on both forums. Me or other person who does it hehe

I reported a similar bug on Bucky o'hare, that also hangs on the caracter screen, and because both are konami games, i think we can say its a specific driver problem with this build. Both games worked before hehe. I think when we get a very large list, you can see some problems related to specif drivers, like the neo geo, konami etc.

I will post there on sourceforge as already said and here too to help other people besides the coders. But this time i will probably post there first. Not sure if all or only the games with issues. Maybe i get the issues done then see what are the ones related to specific drivers. Let me put there on the bugs page also the konami thing. Probably more games will behave like Simpsons and Bucky, i hope not

If it runs Alien 3, Street Fighter and Rad Mobile....I'm oficially in heaven.

Whoa!!!!!

Alien 3 and Rad Mobile Worked!!!!!!

Street Fighter is a no-go...

But Alien 3 is a great advance for this emu.....maybe Jurassic Park is also compatible....

I got a perfect .70 set. If you need someone to take care of some letters for the rom test....count me in.

Peace

This was just posted on Sourceforge:

QUOTE
In 0.70.2b we brought you an extra 20 megs of memory, but turned off alot of the compiler optimizations in an attempt to conserve space.
After some research, opcode has found some interesting things:
1) The memory difference between optimize for size and optimize for speed is very small.
2) We can turn on some of the optimizations that I had disabled for fear of a repeat of 0.66b (no ROMs worked in 0.66b, and when I first fixed the memory bug, the same thing happend for 0.70.2b-prerelease)
3) opcode went ahead and <gasp> read the docs and came across a nice command line option to give us a significant boost in speed.

The end result: fair->significant speed increases. So those games that are choppy now should be much smoother with the next release.

Since I've received a pretty astounding response to my plea for bug reports, I'm going to make another request: If you have the means to compile MAMEoX and would like to be an official tester (as a bonus you get access to the dev CVS repository, which is updated more frequently than the anonymous server), please let me know.
We're trying hard to organize this project a little better than it has been in the past, and having some official testers doing pre-release testing is the second big part (after bug reports) of that push towards overall organization.

I expect that 0.70.3b (or whatever it's called by then, the MAME guys are releasing versions like crazy) will go out towards the end of this week, probably Monday if we don't run into any major problems. I hope to have lightgun support (as listed elsewhere) ready by then, but the speed improvements make such a big difference that I'm willing to put it off for another version to get this out there for you guys smile.gif
