Even though console wars are kind of like religious wars, never ending and pointless because there will never be a winner, it's always fun to discuss. any way, I put my backing behind Nintendo. Over the years I've owned almost every console since the C64. Each of them had their moments, some shorter than others, but Nintendo's consoles have always had that extra something to bring me back. To this day, I'll still break out my NES to play some Super Mario Bros. 1-3, Metroid, Kung Fu, or Anticipation. The same with SNES and Super Mario World, Chrono Trigger, Secret of Mana, and Super Punch-Out. Their handhelds were fun, but I never like looking at tiny screens. The N64 had a few good titles as well with Mario 64, Mario Kart 64, Zelda: OOT, Mario Golf, Goldeneye, and Rocket. Now we have the GC. Nintendo does it again with Luigi's Mansion, Mario Sunshine, Zelda: WW, Smash Bros: Melee, Eternal Darkness, Pikmin, and Rogue Leader.

Don't get me wrong, there are great games on other systems. Most of them, however, don't have that same replay/fun value that Nintendo puts into their games. The only thing that I would've like to seen with the GC is an integrated optical-out for better sound.

I think that the cube is a great system, I just love some of the games. Games arent about graphics, they arent even about story (except some very special games) but thhey are all about FUN, and that is where the Cube excels. It is a great system (like the dreamcast)

About the BBC Watchdog thing (It isnt really relevant to the title of this thread but it was mentioned anyway) . Well, Watchdog is a consumer affairs programme on BBC1 at prime time. When my PS2 broke about a year ago, and all my friends ones broke around the same time  (we all got ours about the same time and they were all the same model) I went to the BBC watchdog and emailed them about it, and after a while I got an email back saying that they had a number of mails about the early PS2 models. Anyway they want ed to do an interview for TV and I went on YAY!!! Anyway, the EARLY PS2 models were shie for a lot of people (not all) and I have gone off Sony ever since, because they refused to give repairs as it was JUST out of warranty, Sony have put me off as a company. I am not saying that a PS2 is bad just that this has put me off SONY and I just cant like all the regurgetated Pap that comes out of a lot of sony games.

That said the Ps2 has some corkers, as does the Cube and Box. I can't say that there are many American games that really interest me (apart from Indy). JSRF and Sega games have allways been a love of mine, the Style and care put into these games is far more absorbing that, what many FPS developers think "How many Exbplosions can we put in here". Nintendo also produce some really cracking games. The Xbox doesnt really have as many origional games as I would like, we need some ideas developers! I am not saing that Halo and Co are not Great games, it is just I would choose another Sega arcade game ay day.

Ok, I read in this thread that Baulder's Gate is a port of the PC version....

...no NOT AT ALL. If that were so, then we would have one of the best RPG's on any console. Rather we have another Gauntlet clone that barrows upon the D&D rules system. nothing more sadly to say.

----

From what I understand Atari (not the original company by this time already) was offered the Famicom at one point in time. I should have more details on that soon, in the mean time I can tell you this. The Atari 7800 was a finished product two years before the Nintendo released State Side. But the Tramiel's (the familily who fucked up the Atari name) did not want to release it for some reason or another, which gave Nintendo the chance to put the NES on the market, making it America's 1st 8-Bit gaming machine, and the 7800 the second, and at that dated 8-bit console. What a lot of people do not know though is that the team behind the original Amiga computer (makers of the 3DO minus Jay Miner who died by the time of the 3DO) made and designed the Atari 8-Bit computer. Atari had hired this team to design an advanced video game system for them, which would have totally blown away the NES, and SNES before either exsisted, but as fate would have it Commodore who had lots of money do to there success with the C64 swooped down and offered more money to Amiga if they would turn there video game project into a computer, which later released as the Amiga 1000. So, if things would have been different and 2nd Generation Atari not had there heads up there asses as they always did, Atari would have been the name behind some of your best childhood memories, or retro fetush depending upon your age.

---

Sony before releasing the Sony 2 promised triple the polys of the Dreamcast, improved graphics on classic Sony 1 games, and a lot of other crap that fell through, and continues to fall through. See aside of using crap ass parts to save money because they know dumb shit, tech ignorant, jump on the fucking band wagon American consumers are going to buy there crap anyhow. They also released there $300 piece of crap with only 4Mb video RAM, with no compressio what so ever! Compare that to the Sega Dreamcast's 8Mb Video RAM and Compression on top and what do you get!?!?!?

2 systems who equal in poly count per second, and a Dreamcast who can render sharper images, and more unique and less reused texture and poly based worlds, despite Sony's lies about how great there Streaming from DVD technology may be, and how it allows them to keep up with the XBOX, ha ha ha. Of course M$ lied to and they are asses, they do have the better technology of the 4 consoles, well the Dreamcast does prolly retain the cleanest display of them all, but aside of that.

As for the ONLY reason the Game Cube is not doing...

...3rd party support. 3rd Parties make or break a system, that is why Sony stays on top because Capcom, Konami, and a lot of other companies who I used to worship and am beginning to hate are only releasing there best on the aging PS2, and saving there experimental bull shit for the XBOX and cube. :/
It is all about conspiracy, who is paying who behind who's back while getting a hand job at the same time. Somehow these companies HAVE to be payed off somewhere to do this, something has to compensate for all the sales lost if they were to port these classic to all 3 consoles. They would not lose money, they would make money, so somewhere they are getting payed off.

It looks good and is good, too. Looks... are subjective. I thought the new art style was fantastic.

umm.. quite a couple of cool games will surface this year..

Mario Kart
Mario Golf
Mario Tennis
Wario World
Pikmin 2

1080 Avalance
F-Zero X
Mario Party 5
Star Fox 2
Resident Evil 4
Resident Evil Online
Sonic Heroes
Tony Hawk Underground(comming for other consoles as well)

Even further we can expect a new Mario game, a new Metroid, and perhaps a new Zelda.

I dont really care about console wars, as I play all games I like on xbox(which was basically thps4 + death to rights, at least for now)
and play all the good games on gamecube..
ps2 got thrown away, much like the xbox would have without the "extra capabilities",
as I just got bored with all the games..

All I know is that gamecube has at LEAST 10 more great games to give within the next year or so, + the already existant 10+ good games, such as..

Mario Sunshine
Resident Evil: Remake
Resident Evil Zero
Star Fox Adventures
Zelda: Wind Waker
Pikmin
Metroid
Luigi's Mansion
Wave Race
Mario Party 4
Super Monkey Ball 1+2

etc

SO why bother fighting? Anyone who's seriously interested in good games should aquire all consoles that has games which you concider of such..
Its just childish to mock a machina you dont have while praising the one you do have

sad.gif you've dissapointed me sega).  their sports games are cool too, but the only sports games i like is hockey and maybe football.

if u ask me, the best thing gamecube has going for it is the zelda OOT port (the one with wind waker, which sucks imo) and sonic adventure 2. maybe metroid 3d, but i hate that controller so much i could never play a FPS with it

First your list is wrong.

Resident Evil Online is not coming out on Gamecube it is PS2 only. Second Sonic Heroes is Multi Platform, and will obviously be the best on XBOX, as with all multi console games (with the exception of NFS). Resident Evil 4 is also Multiplatform. Please read up on before you post it.

I love the way it is shapped and how it fits in my hands, but I think that the button layout on the GC controller is the stupidest thing ever.

What?! I'd rather play multiplatform games on a system with good controlers (PS2 and GC) personally.  And please don't say that the Xbox version is going to look better because I'm sure developers are going to make the game look the same for every console and if there was a difference I'm sure we would not be able to see it because it would be so minor.

whats wrong with xbox controllers? dont give me the "they're too big" bit, i have big hands and they fit perfectly. ive always liked the weird shaped controllers (n64 and DC), never could stand the playstation  style ones (which gc takes after).

I own a Dreamcast, as well as a Gamecube and modded Xbox. I also think the cube had games that were more fun. If you could add a hard drive and mod a cube I would probally be playing alot more games than worrying about what news coming out.

yeah, apart from it feeling like its cheaply made, the buttons being laid out all irregularly and the z button being in the dumbest position possible, gc controllers are great! ill admit ms has fucked up on both controllers with the positioning of the black and white buttons, but apart from that the controller-s is perfect
