PJ N64 was a nice try....but it freakin sux

Well, the xbox port was just a very hack/rushed attempt because the author wanted to be the one to get the money, the original PC version of pj64 is actualy pretty good though IMO. This is the whole reason I was opposed to that n64 contest; I knew this was going to happen.

PS - Is it just me or is it impossible to get sick of Mario64?

Good point. I have got all the stars about 4 times, and I keep re-playing it. I am also playing Super Mario World right now too  wink.gif

Hmm... I just played Mario for a bit, got some stars and saved.. Now I come back to play it again and my save isn't there. Are regular eeprom saves not supported yet and only save states are?

most n64 emulators suck for xbox but they are still very early so its expected. as for ultrahle i knoe full well if its emulation limits i have worked on its source myself. i think you took my post wrong. good work on porting it you get cradet there but im simply stating thers alot better open source emus out there. and would make better ports.

when pj64 gets there driver issues solved it will probly preform better then ultrahle comptbaly wise. ultrahle is very fast thow so he has the speed advantege over any other emu. i mean if hes relly good he can probly incrase the ultrahle compatbily and beat the rest.

ultrahle is very old now and lacks alot of support for anything. older game yes will run but anything newer then like the first 10 n64 games. other games do not run or run relly buggy. this emu suffers simply from age. knothing agenst the guy who ported it but ultrahle has been superpassed by 1964 and pj64. like i stated on a older post it would make alot of sence to port 1964 being its faster the pj64.

zelda 64 is a exeption couse they added support for it on one of there last releses.

Crap,
UltraHLE was the first N64 emu released and it supported Zelda straight up with the first release.
RealityMan who was the original coder said that he coded the HLE specifically to play Mario and Zelda.
People have been hacking since its release and since it went open source a while back people have been adding compatability.

Anyone who bags these authors or even makes stupid coments like "it makes no sence to port UltraHLE, why not do 1964" are fucking retards. If you are such a Nintendo 64 expert that you wnow exactly what should be ported then show us you master port of 1964 that runs all games perfectly or else shut the fuck up and enjoy what others give you for free.

Your very first post was:

jeez ultrahle port. now thats utterly useless. pj64 is better and supports alot more. ultrahle was the first n64 emu and only plays a few games.

I think not.

the first relese of zelda suppport was relly bugy and had gfx and sound issues. full support wasent in untill the end. ultrahle is pretty useless in its current state on pc and xbox. its just fact it doesent mean it whont be useless with some heavy recoding.

There was only one release of ultrahle. Zelda worked the same as it always has. And with the words "utterly useless", you aren't kidding anybody with your word eating tactics.

Did you have a Voodoo card or did you run it with one of those crap Glide wrappers. I first used glide wrappers and it was not very good, they did get better, but using a Voodoo card with real Glide the thing was near dam perfect on an old Pentium 200, Zelda and Mario. I bought a Voodoo card just because of UltraHLE.

I think this emu made a lot of money for 3DFX (the makers of Voodoo cards for those of you who were not around pre NVidia vs ATI days when 3DFX was the only video card to have).

I am trying the converse right now... Hopefully this works, or there will not be a way to share rom directories without this "issue".  wink.gif

shouldnt this guy win the 2nd part of the contest since he's still in the time frame.

i thought the pj64x guy won the whole thing since nobody entered the first part of the contest. but now there really is a contest.

give him the cash!

Well, they can't realy do that since all of the money has already been commited to the author of the pj64 port. It wouldn't be legal at least.

This emulator is AWESOME, amazing work

useless? i would have to disagree. so far this supports more games than pj64, including a major one: zelda

A very unfounded statement.

It supports much less, but the ones it *does* support are emulated *very* nicely. That was the point of porting UltraHLE. Its a very efficient fast emulator, but it has a very small amount of compatibility. PJ64 (PC version) is ultimately better than UltraHLE.

Big props out to the author.
