Current List Of Emulators Not Ported To The Xbox
« on: May 17, 2003, 10:04:00 PM »

I will try to compile a list of every emulator  not ported. You can help contribute to the list but please only list the emulators that are open source and not currently  ported to the xbox. I will try to keep this updated as well. I have not listed all of them as I am only 1 person. I have listed a bunch though some do kinda catch my eye a little bit. Enjoy and please help if you can!!

Not Currently Ported/open source

Raine: An extremely inclusive, very compatible multi-machine emulator.

NeoCD: NeoCD is the only (so far) Neo-Geo CD emulator ever to play games.

PinMAME!!!:PinMAME emulates the hardware found in many pinball machines created from the late 1970's through 2001.

Jagulator: This was the very first official Atari Jaguar emulator to be attempted.

AdvanceMAME: Special features for increased compatibility with TV displays, arcade and fixed-frequency monitors. Generally improves video support.

MESS:MESS emulates multiple console/computer systems. These systems include Apple II, Astrocade, Atari 800, Atari 5200, ColecoVision, Colour Genie, Genesis, Kaypro CP/M, PDP/1, Sega Master System, Gamegear, TRS-80, and Vectrex and a few others!

CANAME: Port of MAME32 in English and Japanese that only has support for CPS and Neo-Geo titles.

DarcNES: DarcNES started as a NES emulator but now supports NES, Master System, Game Gear, ColecoVision, and Apple II.

Red Dragon: A visual boy emulator this emulator is basically Reality Boy v0.7 enhanced.

CPS2MAME: This version of Mame only plays CPS2 Games.

MAME32: This is a Windows test version of MAME that includes a GUI.

MAME32k: This is MAME compiled with Kaillera, a utility that enables Netplay on it

Handy:Handy is the best Lynx emulator currently.

VCMAME.NET: This is a version of MAME32 that is compiled using Visual C++ .NET (would make a easier port)

O2EM: This is the only Odyssey 2 emulator available, therefore  It runs almost all Odyssey 2 games there are, and it even has sound support (including voice support!).

1964:This N64 emulator is a bit different from all the others. It's open source

DTMNT:The fastest and most complete Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles emulator.

ACE: This is a CPS-1/2 and now System 16, System 18 and NeoGeo emulator for Windows.

Basilisk II: Basilisk II is a multi-platform 680x0 Macintosh emulator. It runs MacOS 7.x or 8.x

KBMAME: KBMAME is similar to NeoMAME in that it only supports Neo Geo games

CHIP8:A  Vision-8 BRAND, vision-8 is a portable emulator for the old CHIP8 system

BeebEm: BeebEm is a BBC Micro Model 'B' emulator, it works by emulating the hardware found in a BBC Micro.

UltraHLE-ported  This is the legendary UltraHLE, the first N64 emulator to run commercial games. The initial release could play 17 games, but, with the help of updated ultra.ini files, it can now support many more[/COLOR]

ScummVM-ported: ScummVM is an implementation of LucasArts S.C.U.M.M. (Script Creation Utility for Maniac Mansion) interpreter, used in games such as Monkey Island, Indiana Jones, Day Of The Tentacle, Sam and Max, and many more.

CD-ICE: get it on the list its open source and kicks ass it is a phillips cd-i emulator and is o/s

I would like to see a port of ScummVM to play my all time favorites.
It's a very nice peace of software.

I would also like to see a good c-64 port with keyboard support. The current ones are not very playable for me.

dmb: Most emulators you are list here are some kind of mame or arcade/cps2. We already have two good mame ports and final burn alpha that can play cps2 roms very well.

And i don't think jagulator is in a state for porting yet. It only plays very few games with sound.

I did list just mame/arcade mame projects, but  just possibly some could work better than the current ones? Who knows. I will keep on adding to the list though. And hopefully delete many as well if you catch my drift. smile.gif

Regarding PinMAME - it's open source, but that's not the part that people want to use.  Visual PinMAME is a 2-piece project.  The PinMAME portion is open source, but all it does is display the high score and emulate the machine workings of a pinball table.  It does not actually display pictures of pinball tables or show the balls bouncing around or play any sounds.  All of the "fun" stuff is encapsulated in the other piece - "Visual Pinball" which is not open-source.  This was a project that I looked at a looooong time ago (before I took my first break.)  Unless the Visual Pinball person decides to release the source, there will be no port to the XBox.

Ah well it would have been nice having this ported but anyways!

Anyway now you're actually here and will read this thanks sooooooo much for the psx emu and all your hard work for everything, one question do you ever plan on implementing net play fully?

NeoCD all the way... Can't wait to play Last Blade 2 on my Xbox...

Ok, it's not the same thing as the arcade, but anyway... it's still Last Blade  wink.gif

This is an emulator that i'd really like to see, and I believe it shouldn't be too hard to port (well, not as  hard as pcsx at least)
