Updated Release - Xenesis 0.91 Beta
« on: May 17, 2003, 02:05:00 AM »

The changes.....

Xenesis 0.91 Beta - Latest Revision
-----------------------------------

- Added better screen stretching support (can now toggle aspect ratio on/off)
- Added screen positioning to the screen stretching option (use left thumb stick to position screen. Use X to centre it)

- Added Fast Forward facility to help speed up game intros etc (hold left trigger and push right thumb stick to the right)

- Fixed buggy video mode selection and widescreen support

This release includes a couple of new features and (hopefully) one big problem.

Quite a few people reported problems with their boxes locking when trying to boot the first release. After much scratching of the head I think I tracked it down to some bugs in my video mode and widescreen code. These should now be fixed and hopefully those people that had problems won't have them anymore.

There are still problems with Xenesis and the IGR function of some versions of Evo-X. To be honest I'm not sure what I can do about those other than suggesting trying another version of Evo-X. I will look into it though, but my main focus this past couple of days has been to fix the above issue.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

There are still a couple more feature additions in progress, but I wanted to get this one released to see if the bug fixes have solved the problems.

As always please keep me posted on any problems/improvements

My xbox was locking when I tried the other release, I downloaded the update to see if it works now and it does.

Great emu, very clean interface.

My only beef would be your choice of triggers to move up/down. I mean I can live with that though, but it's really the only thing I can think of that I didn't like.

Oh, and maybe optional skinability, but I could live without it :D

Keep up the great work

EDIT-- Sorry, I just realized you DID switch the triggers to the common way... it's way too early and I didn't get enough sleep... my bad

My only problem with the original release was the pink background.  Was there an option to change that?

frank88b - No there is currently no option for changing any of the colours. It is planned for a future release though

So keep watching this space!

Carcharius : - When I try and change the settings, specially the video settings, on the Emulator it sometimes freezes up on me.

Also there is no sound on the intros of games, eg; Sol Feace.  But the game has sound when played.

I have a Pal XBox v1.0.

Hope this little bit of info helps on this release.

GreetZ

Edit: On sound intro problem with Sol Feace, there is an option on the game to set the sound but when I set it and Exit pressing Start on the controlar and go back in to the option it reverts to 00 again.

ScOrPiOn-X

Which settings have you been changing when Xenesis has frozen on you?

Have you tried Sol-Feace in the windows version of Gens?

Has anyone else noticed missing sound in Sol-Feace?  I've never played this game, and at the moment don't have access to it,  so I can't check to see if this is an issue or not.

Carcharius

I tried to change the video settings to Advance Mame when it froze on me.

I have not tried this game on the Windows version but have tried it on Gens_Xport v3 and sound on intro works.

There is an option though on the game itself to set the audio settings, but when I change it and press on Start on the controller to save the settings it reverts to no volume.

Hope this helps.

Aye! Thanks for the great emulator, I've been playing Pirates! gold for 8 hours now :-)

Ok let's get to business:
I have 1.1 Box (Pal), some matrix clone with Evox D.6 Bios. Xenesis used to freeze upon startup. I was using EvolutionX V1.8.3285 dashboard. Tried with and without IGR. -> updating dahsboard to newest one solved the problem (EvolutionX_V1_8_3752). So if you ppl have problems, update your dashboards!
