Since Theres A N64 Contest

gba....
sure there r some out there. .. ch3 gba being one of the best. has the best sound out of all but has graphic glitches. n then there's Hikarus... plays more games than ch3 but the sound quality is not as good. what it has going for it r the graphics..
so how about a contest, a gba emu with good sound n good graphics.. that supports Tactic Ogre
I'll donate for it, if there was such a contest :D

I'd be careful with what you ask for.  Seems like the n64 project is freaky business.   You should read the latest politics.  Reminds me of a soundgarden song..."What you want to be good has made you blind.  What you want to be yours has made it mine."  You know it's also possible that the scene will continue to flourish on its own.  Hopefully with some updates for mame-x and the other emus.  Adding money just adds more of an arguement.

Also...Why gba?  why not just buy one if you want to play.  Yeah, I know, the dreaded "then buy it" post.  Seriously is the gba that important?

Sweetleaf, sorry for not having time to think too hard, but can you elaborate on your comments about the N64 contest and what it's doing to the scene?

Yeah, someone needs to do a proper port of Visual Boy Advance (VBA)

Hikaru's UVBAx isn't a very good port really.. it seems really buggy and the sound is shocking.

Well maybe one day XPort will do one.. who knows  :D

The VBA emulator on PC runs Tactics Ogre fine, maybe Hikaru left out some code that was needed to run it.

Yup works fine for PC but on every Xbox emulator it locks up after you have chosen your paths in the begining of the game  :(

Here are the main problems with the current emulators

Hikaru's UVBAx

Pros:
- Solid Frame Rate
- Graphics look sharp
- Graphic filters are great (Simple, Adv. Mame, Motion Blur)

Cons:
- Aspect Ratio wrong
- Sound is choppy
- Static Sound noise in some games
- Saving System is buggy, some games don't save (ie. CastleVania: Aria of Sorrow)

CH3

Pros:
- Awesome Sound
- Nice looking menu
- Built Ground up for the Xbox
- Good Save System

Cons:
- Project Discontinued
- Frame Rate is choppy in most games
- Graphics are not very sharp (Newer Games like Splinter Cell look terrible)

;)

ch3 rules it has an ace save system

heres my point though vba has ace graphics and ch3 has ace sound now my suggestion would be why dont the two authers work together

answer one has quit and the other one speaks japanease but if the ch3 dev has quit why doesent he release his source then maby Hikaru could use it to improve his sound and save system

just a thourt

I don't care about the "politics" of the N64 Emu contest. I just want to see a working N64 Emu period, regardless of what platform. I would love to be able to just open a ROM and not have to worry if I have selected the correct plugin, etc... (I know, I know, in a perfect world....)

Why don't you just use Project 64 if you don't care about platform?  The only game I couldn't get to work with the default plug ins was Yoshi's Story, and there aren't any plug ins that support it at all.  Just use Jabo's defauly plug ins.

A contest will never happen for GBA.  GBA has what, 3 emulators released already?  N64 has ZERO.  The just want to get someone working on it to get the ball rolling.

Plus the GBA is a current system with all the games easily attainable. The N64 is an old system that came out 8 years ago and most place selling old game want and arm and a leg for some of the better ones. Also the Carts for the N64 are so heavy. :P

Whats the point your trying to make, this was a thread started about the GBA not n64 so not sure why you keep trying to pull it that way.
