Zelda Oot N64 Rom/emulator Question
« on: April 11, 2003, 01:18:00 AM »

project 64 works great, Zelda OOT can be played with loads of emus, even the original ultraHLE if you've got a voodoo card, I know for ultraHLE you needed a patch to finish OOT but I've not sure about project 64 which is by far the best around now.

Before i commit myself to buying a USB n64 adapter, i really want to know if the current PC emulators (NOT XBOX) can run zelda OOT perfectly.

I dont want to spend money on a USB adapter + a n64 controller if this game will not run perfectly.

Thanks, and sorry if this is the wrong place to ask this.

Be very Carefull what type of N64 to USB adapter you buy

I bought two different brands for my MAME/MCS system and the type that I have will not interpret the Anagloue stick on the N64 controler. IE: the central thumbstick has to mapped to binary (on-off) keyboard keys.

This mean most N64 games are unplayable, You can't walk or sneak, you have to run everywhere. and trying to aim a gun in Perfect dark or Jamesbond, is nearly impossible.

At first it would'nt be emulation if you had to run it from the actual N64 console, secondly that was'nt the answer to his question.

I don't know what converter to buy, I just use an AxisPad.  I mapped the C-Buttons to a stick, ala GCN, and then I had more than enough buttons.  I use P64, and I plays OoT better than perfect.  I own the game, so If I wanted to play it perfect then I could just use that, but this is better.  I went through the options and changed some stuff,  changed Interpreter to Recompiler in all windows.  It appears 3-4 times I think.  At optimised settings, with 16x ansitopric filtering, it runs at about 175 frames a second on my computer.
