The latest ver of mame is .66 thanks for pointing that out. That makes me think this is a old site and not to order from them.

I've used this guy in the past to obtain some backups. I've gotten great service. http://www.eggmansworld.com.

You can even order them on DVD instead to you don't have tons of CDs sitting around.

Well, if you got patience, DC++ is the way to go. That, or use mIRC, find a good channel, and use the ZF Downloader script. Will most likely get you banned in about a month, but you'd have alot of roms by then.

Yes, Dialup sucks, but between the two programs, I downloaded most of the roms off a dialup in about two weeks or so. I was on all the time and it was automated.

.67 is the latest verison for PC, but .61 is the latest that will work on the box.

I have the complete v.61 set, not all of them are on the Xbox though. I am pretty behind on MAME.

They make a new version every friggin' month with more supported ROMs... it's kind of hard to keep up with that.

Is MS4 supported in the binary yet, or do you still have to recompile for it?

No, it's still far too new. Wait for another two years and it will be incorporated into MAME.

MAME roms should work fine on the XBOX right? Sorry but I'm a complete Noob on this. The only thing that keeps MAME roms from playing on the XBOX is a mod and a copy of the MAME-X executable, correct?

Ok here is the deal... For the Xbox version of Mame you need Mame 0.61 verified roms...

That means you should use a Romcenter data file for Mame 0.61 which is not that easy to find. However if you can find a version of Mame that is 0.61 you can create a Romcenter dat file from that Mame.exe

Once you have your roms verified they should be 100% compatible with the X-Box version of Mame.

Note: Only games that use less than say 53Megs of RAM will run on X-Box Mame. Why?

Simple, because the the X-Box does not have enough RAM to run all games. Also it does not have enough power to run all Mame roms.

However it does run a lot of the smaller games not problem. Including a bunch Neo*Geo games.

If you want to play CPS1 and CPS2 games perfect just use FBAx instead.

ok so i am confused here the new mame 0.68 just came out for pc and i see a flood of roms on usenet for this...will that work on xbox? or would that be a waste of time downloading those?
