Bochs requires a modchip to run. You don't need linux, you just run it from EvolutionX (well, that's what I do anyway).
There are a couple of different ways to get Bochs to accept keyboard input. The first is to run the keyserver that comes with Bochs. This is run on your PC and transmits keystrokes to your XBOX. The other method is to get hold of a USB keyboard and hack the usb connector off and likewise with a controller cable. You then connect the wires from the keyboard to the corresponding ones on the controller connector that plugs into your box (the controller port is just a modified USB port). If you don't fancy doing that, you can buy a USB-XBOX adapter (dunno where from though).
