Model 3/dricas And Sega Saturn Emulation?
« on: December 23, 2002, 11:58:00 PM »

Uhm... you got a point there, ACHACHA...

I don't know if there's a difference between a game being EMULATED or PORTED... because if there is, that's what they did on Shenmue & Shenmue II... besides, to emulate those games (which weren't heavy RAM-wise), the DC took a shit-load of time to load them. Somtimes, almost a minute. That's a lot if you ask me, considering DC's Hardware.

I think that those games are PORTS...

Of course I could be wrong... Or I could be stupid. Your choice, dawg. happy.gif

How much time took to produce the 3 games?
You never know if some of the time was devoted to porting those extra freebies...

The Sega smash packs are also emulators...

This seems very much to be Sega's style, if infact there is a Saturn emulator underneath the hood, then I can't wait to see what comes next from the scene. smile.gif

QUOTE (Hyo @ Dec 24 2002, 07:58 AM)

I think that those games are PORTS...

Shenmu II would definitely be needed to be a ported because i dont think the xbox is able to emulate the whole game, as for the older games it would be alot easyier and quicker to emulate these.

There a big difference between a Port and Emulation but im not 100% sure if im right (correct me)

Port: a port is where you go through the games source code and modify it so it is able to run on the xbox hardware. Also changing necessary game features.

Emulation: Emulation would be a software that will emulate the hardware that was used to run that Game , like; spu, gpu, controls etc...

Correct me if im wrong.

Alot less time consuming to write 1 emulator then to port several games also.

Like Sheytan said.. House of the Dead is the PC version.

Both of those games were ported to PC, so rather than doing hard work again, Sega ported PC - XBox (as XBOX makes it extremly easy to port PC games)...

So no, niether holds the key  dry.gif

Ah, so you're thinking that the original Panzer Dragoon on Panzer Dragoon Orta is a port of the PC version?  *sigh* That would make sense.  And it saddens me.  Ah well, no Panzer Saga on Xbox yet.... sad.gif

Good points, true to some extent.

Don't forget about DC to PS2 ports  (i.e. Code Veronica)..

And DC to PS2 ports are just that, ports. smile.gif No emulation there, and Capcom did it because they feared nobody would play Code Veronica sad.gif
