Hey jsm,

just a little observation i made the other day regarding that problem with the folders being inaccessible.  I still havent gotten around to that reformat, but after a minor virus problem, i had to run norton.  I observed that the scan was able to read all of the rom files in my folders that "don't exist."  It even had your undo.bat, so I at least know that part worked... lol.  Anyway, just found it odd that norton antivirus was able to still scan those files so i thought i would pass the info on to you.

Hi,

Im noticed that the Good Tool renames the files, and can give very long names to roms. I tried to ftp the rom names to the xbox, but the very long names aren't uploaded at all. Is there a way to preserve the long names and upload them correctly? I use Flashfxp.

nope no way...

I've made a program tough that prepares filenames for xbox-format names, I didn't want to rename all my roms and mp3s manually, I have thousand of them....

What exactly is the xbox file naming standard? It appears that commas aren't allowed along with a file name of a certain length. If someone knows the exact specs for naming please post them. I'd like to write my own program, I need the practice  rolleyes.gif

Here :

XRename
Version 2.0

Well I wrote this utility to rename files with long filenames (more than 32
chars) or that had a ',' a '+' or a '-' cause we all know that files with names like that can't be sent to your xbox right? I mean I wasn't going to check all my 2000 mp3's for those special chars and rename them one by one.

Version 1.0 - Replaces ',' '+' and '-' with a space and cuts file names to 32 chars but keeps extension. Creates a Undo.bat just run it to get old file names back.

Version 2.0 - Same as above, alot of code was redone, plus alot of bugs fixed : would run on nt and xp only, would fuck up with filenames that had two or more '.', would just delete undo if run twice.
