What's Wrong With The Image Quality Of Xbox Emu ?
« on: October 24, 2002, 01:05:00 AM »

first if you can, use RGB that is the only good quality for these games, the arcades were on RGB, compozite looks horrible, but your TV must support RGB, European TVs are the best choice, or get yourself an arcade monitor...

I think XSNES9X has a really bad image quality - it is stretched and badly stretched - it looks really ugly since some pixels are missed and some are doubled, perhaps there is an option to change it, I will have to look inside the INI file...

As for Genesis, I do not think so that pS2 emulator has better image quality, again I am using European television... and PS2 emulator SUX because it cannot even run most games at full speed

MAMEX has good quality for most of the games even if I maximize the screen

Final Burn Alpha has the best image quality and ROX totally! The best one! (probably because the hardware it emulates has a good graphics by nature).

I just burned the PS2 SNES emulator, it's much better than Xbox version. It looks like a real SNES.

Hey Tom, are you sure that you used the last version (pgen-rc2) ? The Pgen image quality is VERY FAR better than Dgen.

About RGB, my Xbox is the U.S version, it do not support RGB, my TV don't have RGB too.....but with a svideo cable, the results should be very good.

I don't know, but I guess that problem with all xbox emulators could be the xbox hardware itself. Even the GBA emulator have the same problem...

You sure your mod chip is installed properly?  I've heard that if you bump something or solder something the wrong way, it can effect your video quality.

Personally, I use component video and I can't tell the difference between SNES on my Xbox and my old SNES.  If anything the Xbox graphics look more crisp.

I don't have modchip. I installed Xtender, flashed (with EvoX 2.3) and removed it. If there was something wrong with my video, it should effect normal xbox games too, but everything is normal.

splat, take a look again at your SNES games...it's not the same, really.

And what do you think about Dgen ?

I agree, the image and sound quality you get using Final Burn Alpha is outstanding, even when running big games, such as Vampire Savior 2. No slowdown at all, great emulator. Even lets you select either analog or digital control.

Both SNES emulators on PS2 and Xbox are based on the same source from PC. There should not be a big difference. I have seen both of them, the PS2 version looked better, because the image was not stretched with missing/doubling pixels, it was like 1:1 or 2:2 - you know what I mean. The Xbox version has really not good image.

But SNES emulator on PS2 is very slow and mostly unusable.

Try Final Burn Alpha emulator. If you find the image quality bad then I feel sorry for you. Because I find it perfect.
