Well, I like playing the older games, especially the games w/ battery backup in the original cart, now all those old carts are shot, but at least I can still play the game normally.

Everything prior to this (all the way back to the Atari/Apple/Commodore days) was recently tossed. I never got to those.

I still have almost a thousand 60 meg Data cartridges to go too!

I am in,I can not understand why people buy an xbox with all this power to play old crap that died years ago,stick to your old 386 pc then if you like this old shit.

I bought my xbox to play the next gen games and get away from old games.

Good graphics dont make good games there are tons of classics that are worth playing on the older systems.  On the 386 comment there is alot different feel playing video games on your PC then on your TV even with a computer controller.

I agree with opjose, its a pack-rat thing.

I mean I used to have software for machines that I didn’t even own, I told myself it was 'Just in case I got one' but really I knew full well its because I couldn't bear NOT to have it.

Computer and games enthusiasts to tend to exhibit 'hoarding' tendencies rivaled only by Smorg the Dragon from the Hobbit.

I don’t even think its fair to say 'Well all these OLD roms are crap so I don’t know why I’ve got them', because I'm pretty sure if you opened your eyes and looked around and OBJECTIVLY looked at the software you have (or had) or ANY platform (Xbox included) you would probably find that 50-75% of it could be considered crap, its just with that many 1000 roms you are gonna have one helluva task finding the gems.

I have a sneaking suspicion that those that can identify themselves as game hoarders probably also do the same with other media too such as movies and music etc.

It's a behavioral thing:- Go with it, go get cured or maybe try it as a defense in court, you never know it might actually work
