I agree with opjose, its a pack-rat thing.
I mean I used to have software for machines that I didnt even own, I told myself it was 'Just in case I got one' but really I knew full well its because I couldn't bear NOT to have it.
Computer and games enthusiasts to tend to exhibit 'hoarding' tendencies rivaled only by Smorg the Dragon from the Hobbit.
I dont even think its fair to say 'Well all these OLD roms are crap so I dont know why Ive got them', because I'm pretty sure if you opened your eyes and looked around and OBJECTIVLY looked at the software you have (or had) or ANY platform (Xbox included) you would probably find that 50-75% of it could be considered crap, its just with that many 1000 roms you are gonna have one helluva task finding the gems.
I have a sneaking suspicion that those that can identify themselves as game hoarders probably also do the same with other media too such as movies and music etc.
It's a behavioral thing:- Go with it, go get cured or maybe try it as a defense in court, you never know it might actually work
