Looks like SEGA and MS is making Arcade machines
http://www.headliner...&abbr=gamerscom

it mentions DC's GDROM here.

More reason to believe that DC Emulation is very possible

QUOTE (LiquidZero @ Sep 18 2002, 12:46 AM)
Anyone think that this is even a remote possibility due to similar operating systems?  Or has anyone heard anything about an attempt to do so?

I don't know how similar the OS is.

It was my understanding that the DC supported WindowsCE, but most of the games were written for it natively.  When you boot up a game that was written for WinCE, you'd notice it (I belive Hydro Thunder is CE, if you've got it check it out).  All the other games were written for "Katanna", which was the code name for the Dreamcast.

I played around a bit with the DC and programming (not much at all!), and I remember that when you are telling the disc how to boot (IP.BIN code), you had to speciy wether the games was WinCE or Katanna.

Just an observation I made.

Xed, that looks sweet! Too bad I'm not gonna be in Tokyo anytime too soon to check it out, but maybe I'll get to see something while I'm in Japan for the next year.

The dreamcast uses hitachi processors, of considerable speed. I truly doubt that this, along with powervr video would be able to be emulated properly. on ANY x86 based processor in the next few years, let alone the 'measly' 733 in the xbox.

Search the web for dreamcast emus, perhaps someone started one for pc. Frankly, since sega is releasing software for other consoles, whatever game you want (sonic, phantasy star, SPACE HARRIER?!) will likely come out on the xbox.

add this to the SMS and Genesis emus that are out, and you're already set!
