Metal Slug 2 runs SLOW, on my Xbox - Mame X, I find it hard to believe with that 750 mhz PIII CPU it cant run this game fast.  Anyone know any way to tweak mame settings or speed it up?

                                    Eh, sure.

Just re-optimize the CPU emulators by hand!

The stuff is already hand written, so short of some video tweak you are not going to get much of an improvement.

You can check the ini file for video related items, but most have already been optimized for greatest speed.

What?

NEO GEO games does not run at full speed on Xbox?

That is a really surprise for me and that is a shame of cource.

Now I really doubt I will install any NEO GEO game on Xbox...    :angry:  :angry:  :angry:

But have you downsampled the sound to 22050 kHz? Because if you use 44100 kHz it is supposed to have slowdowns also on a powerfull PC!! It is inevitable to downgrade the samplerate to 22050!!! If it has still speed problems then all I have to say is that Xbox is not powerfull enough, though.

I just tried running it.

It doesn't seem "slow" to me. I get 56 fps.

Blazing Star also runs great too!

I'm using B6 .61 core.

B6 .61 core?? what the heck is that the mame-x ver you are using?? and I see in Mame for PC where you can tweak those settings like the 44000 and 22000 but how do you do it in Mame-X???

I guess B6 .61 is MAMEX beta 6 (this one is based on .61 core)

I guess samplerate and others are set in MAME.INI file. I would like to know how about individual "game-by-game" settings though.

                                    If MameX is true to form...

The inidividualized settings get written out when you bring up the "customization" /per game panel.

At least it does on the PC. I'll bet Mamex just dumps this to the MameX directory on the hard drive.

You should be able to include some presets on your DVD-R (if that is what you are using) and point MameX to them instead... of course you will not be able to modify them.

Does anyone else get errors when they start Metal Slug 1 or 2 that says that some of the roms don't match and may not work?  But they run fine?  Perhaps I don't have the correct MAME versions of these roms... if anyone doesn't get these errors, could you post the proper rom sizes?

Also, has anyone gotten the CPS2 game X-men: Children of the Atom to run, or is it barely too big?

                                    You might want to run your collection thru Romcenter to weed out and fix these errors first.

Fireball, did they release a new Mame-X optimized for Neo Geo games, or did they do something to the games themselves,, I went to the link but cant find anything...

I'll bet that they merely packaged the roms properly for MameX. Something you can do yourself.

Doing otherwise would require some form of rewrite of the MameX code and would loose compatibility with future MameX (rather Mame32) upgrades.

It also violates the "intent" of Mame, so to speak.

Mame didn't like my version of the neogeo BIOS, it fixed my errors on starting the roms... I'm curiosu why the CPS2 game Xmen- Children of the Atom won't run though, its only a 20 meg ROM... gets memory errors.

                                    You must have a bad rom. It works fine for me.

I've run all of my roms thru Romcenter first, then CLRMame to prep the zips for mameX.
