would this be a safe idea for Visual Studio 2003 to be installed with VS C++ 2008 Express, I also have Directx 9.0 installed so Im thinking of instead using a virtual machine. Is this a better Idea for development? thanks.

They should work fine together. I've got 2003 standard, 2005 standard and 2008 C++ Express on this pc.

ah okay man I thought it would be a good idea because Id probably have to convert some games or apps to directx 8.1 and I know that older and new direct x versions dont work well together

nvm I just found out that direct x doesn't work in Virtual PC or VMware because they only support 2d animation and such
