you need to download linkboks (can be found on xbins) then i would put it on the E: under apps

Generally all the files necessary for an application to work are packaged together to form what is known as a 'distribution'. The collection of files are then archived into a compressed file (ZIP, RAR) for efficient communication. So after you download the distribution archive, you will have to uncompress and extract the individual files and then install them as a whole.

fyi - Few programs work without any data files. Most have several data files that should exist either along side the executable, or within sub-folders under the executable. You don't need to guess this - the distribution archive would have been constructed accordingly.

Why didn't the failed files transfer? Was there an error message? What did it say?

Evox only searches certain paths for XBEs (unless manually altered to do otherwise). Try copying LinksBoks to the XBOX location E:\Apps\LinkBoks and rename the XBE to "default.xbe" if it isn't already.

So the full path to the Linkboks XBE should end up being E:\Apps\LinkBoks\default.xbe.

Use the left-right slider to scroll the queue window. I think you'll find a 2nd column to the right of the file name, stating the reason for the failure.

From those symptoms, I'd guess the DNS server isn't configured correctly. XBMC may use numeric IP address thus work without DNS, or LinkBoks looks for it's network settings in a different place.

Fastest way to check is to try resolving a test DNS entry on your PC, eg.

Pinging xbox-scene.com [69.90.33.28] with 32 bytes of data:

then enter "http://69.90.33.28/" into LinkBoks and see if that works. If so, it is your XBOX DNS server entry that's needs configuring.

To find out that the IP addresses of the DNS servers you should be using, type this into a command window on your PC (assumes Windows):

C:\IPCONFIG /ALL

It returns your ISP's DNS servers IP addresses.

I don't recall if these need to be edited into a LinkBoks configuration file, or if it uses the settings in the XBOX EEPROM. If EEPROM, I personally use a standard XBOX!Live enabled M$ Dashboard to enter the DNS IP addresses (XBOX!Live->Network Settings).
