Nope, It didn't work sad.gif . XDK 5933 doesn't recognizes MS Visual Studio 2005 and it only allows you to do a minimum install, not a full install (which is needed). Maybe if someone can make a patch....I doubt thats going to happen.

Yea didn't work for me either. Maby it's because it's beta. Just uninstall and wait for a full release.

it's not beta anymore, and xdk just doesn't have the files for vs2005...we will probably have a new xdk release soon that will support vs2005

VS 2003 and the older builds supported Visual Studio 6.

I fail to see what advantage VS 2005 offers over the 2003 version when developing Xbox homebrew software. Or do you expect all these features to be useful on Xbox too?

-.NET CLR on Xbox ??
-ATL/MFC/CRT libraries useful on Xbox ??
-Some new C++ specific stuff ??
-Support for solutions w/ 16000+ files ??
-A few other tools and gadgets ??

You could just run 2003 on one PC and 2005 on another. Or do you guys just want to run the newest version for the sake of having the newest version?

Well I'v been hard at work hacking 0's and 1's trying to get them to integrate and have 2 major problems.

1) Can't figure out what the XDK is specifically looking for when it scans your system.
2) I have uncovered that VS 03 and VS 05 have different names for a hand-full of their components. In other words the way that the xdk integrates into VS 03 won't work in VS 05. The objects and reg entries don't exist or don't match. Some are simple like changing the memory type from int to floating point, but some are complex strings that make no sense at all. Just a few though.

So the only ways that I can think of is to either wait for a new version of the XDK form M$, which looks grim. Maybe there was a private update or patch that didn't go public, proly not. Or continue hacking away at the XDK. If I could find out how the xdk calls for data from VS 03 I could find similar areas on VS 05 and just infer the difference between those specific values.

So has anyone else tried this yet. I'm not that good of a programmer so I might be on the wrong track.

You can just run VS2003+XDK and VS2005 together on one system.
I'm doing it right now, and yes VS2005 has no advantages for Xbox Developing.
With the Xbox360 coming up I don't thing they'll release a new XDK for VS2005.
But you can expect the 360 XDK to be compatible with VS2005 or even VS2005 only.
