Invalid Xbe!
« on: July 05, 2005, 10:42:00 AM »

Right, I am making a generic auto installer for basically, what ever you want to put on your virgin (No softmod or chip what-so-ever).  I am using the UnleashX config.xml, items.xml (don't really need this), and defualt.xbe.  I am rewriting the config.xml to be a simple installer tool for some things I thought would be a good option to mess around with, such as the downloaded Halo 2 maps.  Basically, it can update your version of Halo to v1.1 and install the maps and required files.  It can also remove them.

I have 2 problems.

1) I burned all the required files onto a dvd, with default.xbe, config.xml, and items.xml in the base directory (d:/).  But it will not load!  I cannot load it from the UnleashX file explorer or Lauch DVD functions, and Avalaunch says that default.xbe "Is not a valid .xbe file!"  I have tried the .xbe from the latest release, and the .xbe from my older release on my xbox.

2) Occasionally, I can get it too load UnleashX with the correct menus that I edited.  This is also possible when running from the HDD, but whenever I insert the DVD, it opens the file explorer and freezes, along with varios other issuse that cause it to not work properly.

Can anybody help me?  This is my first attempt at designing anything for the Xbox and I really want it to work (at least minimally).

I tried patching the .xbe with Craxtion4, but that did nothing.  The problem with unzipping it is that I want this to run on unmodded xboxes, so how would I unzip it?

How did you burn it to the DVD?

Did you create an ISO first, then burn?

If not, I would suggest downloading Qwix, creating an image with it, and then burning the image.

Great!  I can load it now!  I created the iso with Craxtion4, as Quix froze up on me, and burned it with CDBurner XP Pro 3.
