Yes, im trying to connect to the xbox via the xbox neighbourhood icon. Any clues?

set the Xbox gateway

and try making the subnet mask 255.255.255.0

is your Xbox hooked into your router? If so, make your Xbox gateway the same as your router's IP address (which is also probably the same as your PCs gateway).

If it's hooked into your PC, your gateway on it would be your PC's IP address.

Also, make sure the subnet is 255.255.255.0 - yours didn't have the last 255

I'm using a crossover cable. I tried what you suggested but still no look. Shouldn't the settings on the xbox be exactly the same as they are for avalaunch?

I've never tried DHCP some i'm not sure if that's the root to take??

well, I've got to tell you DCHP has never worked correctly for me.

I just manually give me Xbox an IP address, and use
subnet 255.255.255.0
And when it was connected to my PC via crossover cable, I'd use the PC's IP address as the gateway
