2- Serious development (like XBMC). For normal dev a retail-to-debug will be sufficient.

Note that the official XDK probably comes without the necessary software/HDD. Offcourse there are hacks around to allow retail games/non-debug signed code to run on this box too, but that would be equal to your normal Xbox.

the real XDk has a few more ports on the back of the extension and stuff

I do believe it's got a much larger HDD than a stock 10gb on a retail box.
It has 128mb of ram too.
And those extra ports, that's it as far as i'm aware...

If I get ambitious and solder some more memory in my xbox could I get the Debug BFM to load and get something like Halo or Halo 2 to run?
