You ask the question like you have a controller and long for compaitblity. But if you had one, I'd assume you were smart enough to test it with EvoX yourself, as it does work for navigation well.
It also works very well with XBMP and XBMC. Haven't tried other apps, but I bet it works with some other dashboards as well.
