currently there is not fix for this as it is a restriction of the FATX filesystem  dry.gif

didn't avalaunch do this long ago with the "fatx2"?
unleashX also now has a long file name auto namer built in as you ftp things it renames them for you

for the avalaunch fatx2 yes it does, the files are no longer readable (pretty positive anyway)
unleashX is the way to go really
