Did anyone else notice that the Xenon XDK is running a .EXE file?
Unless I am mistaken, that means that MS has switched over from the .XBE of the xbox.
If I am right it probally has something to do with the new XNA development kit

OH and on first glance, I saw that it was Dolphin.EXE running on it (as in the Gamecube emulator) but when you look again you see that it is actually just an XDK sample.

Dolphin is the oldest benchmark sample from MS, from the early directx, to what we now think is the Xenon...

thinking about it , i could be wrong.

ALL executables have certain sections thats tells them what to do.

So extensions mean nothing..

My 2cents worth

and 120gigs.

Well u wouldnt want to PRESS a dvd everytime u made a change , so 120gig harddrive will give u a nice bit of room for testing different versions..

if the xbox2 comes with a hdd , we are still too see.. i think not. more like a nice bit of solid state memory (128/256) would do..

My Thoughts. Flame Me if u want

That pic is most likely a Photoshopped fake and probably just edited, messed with the original XDK dashboard. I'm sure we'll find out it's fake in less than a month.

MS could just have switched extensions.

Im sure this EXE is still just a XBE (as we know it)

XBOX AINT A PC
XBOX2 aint going to be either

all pc games run with all hardware in mind. xbox2 and xbox stuff , knows the hardware it will run on.

Dont think too much into it..

Yes but there was also the big "XNA will sycronize development between PC and xbox, and .exe could have something to do with it, thats not to say that it will be a straight EXE, and you will be able to load up notepad on there, and then use it, im sure it will be a very specialized version of the format.

The Extension doesnt mean jack, like with all files the Extension is just there so the Operating System knows which Program (in the pc world) is to open that file.

So in other words you can save a JPG file as ABC or whatever then Manually open it with a PhotoShop or whatever and it should still open unless of course you got a ghetto program which reads Extensions instead of file headers.

Flame me if yall want smile.gif

Extension's dont mean anything, it's just a way of the OS you're using the determine the type, and to show you, as bluecell said.

Personally, i'm not sure if it's fake or not. I don't see why MS would need to change the XDK Launcher, the latest one works really well.

if this pic is a fake, then i think it's a pretty good fake.Nevertheless, the current XDK is top notch and i hope that MS will do the same for the 'next' Generation..

Yes, i know, what i meant was, why bother changing the whole UI of the launcher, if they can still use the same one, with some internal changes, for the 'Xbox 2'
