Do I need to convert my XBOX into a dev system?

Nope you do not, only where you get deep into it it is worth looking into debug Bioses.

What OS do I need to use for development? (PC Wise)

Has to be windows base for the Xbox development kit from MS(XDK).
You need visual studio. So no to all linux questions.

There is a OpenXDK, but I have no idea about it.

I have a copy of both Visual Studio 6, and .NET so no problems there.
Got some major student discounts on those. smile.gif Only payed $97USD for
.NET Pro 2003.

I may just try VMWare first. But I don't think so..

smile.gif Perhaps once I tire of
the blue screen of death I'll give that a go. Just going to create a small
NTFS (W2k Pro) partition, maybe 5 gigs and use that for now. I don't remember
how much room VS.NET uses, but I'm sure I'll figure it out. I only need
Visual C++... And I'm going to use SDL so only 6 megs there. smile.gif

Anyway, Windows is already giving me crap when trying to install it. It knows
I hate it ph34r.gif  So I may just use Win4Lin and use VS 6 instead.
