Ok, I just got this really cool idea. I can't try it now because my XBox is at a friends so maybe one of you can try it. First, we need The Evolution X files (default.xbe and evox.xbe) and a XBox program signer. Ok, well take the Evolution X file default.xbe and sign it. Then, well burn it along with the evox.ini file onto a CD-RW or DVD-R and run it on the XBox. The XBox should run it because it is signed. Next, ftp into your box and replace xboxdash.xbe with the signed version of default.xbe (remember to rename it to xboxdash.xbe) and copy evox.ini over to the XBox. Now you should be able to take out the Evox CD, turn off the XBox and turn it back on with a beautiful Evolution X screen! Now, you can jump over the point's on the TSOP and flash it with some Evox bios and BAM! You just modded your XBox without buying a chip, getting a stupid clock loop, or messing it up in any way for that matter! HOLY CRAP! I can't wait until this afternoon so I can get my box back!

BTW, if somebody would be kind enough to test this for me, it would be REALLY appreciated

I'm just curious. Is there any way you can run homebrew aps on an un-modded XBox? For instance, are there programs that will sign xbe files so that normal xbox's can read them? Like if you made an app, signed it with this hack program, and then burnt it on a CD the right way, the Xbox would read it. Please tell me if this is true or not.

the one flaw is signing evox to run on an unmodded xbox, we cant do it, only MS can

There has to be dome way. Somebody I'm sure has created some sort of uber program that signs xbe files. I could have sworn I've seen them around. If I find any, Ill give it a try and see how it goes but if anybody else can find one of these signing programs and try this please do

there are several programs to sign xbes, but the only keys we know are the ones for exploit, font audio and hbibi, we dont knwo the MS private key to get to run on a stock unmodded xbox

yes there is a way us here at team xecutor hav those very keys but unfortanatly we will not b releasing then as it is leverage if we need to use it against ms

Hey I got this idea stuck in my head recently about signing the evolution X dashboard, burning it onto a CD and running it on the XBox. Since it will have been signed, any XBox should read it, and from there you can ftp in a change you normal dashboard to it. The problem is signing the default.xbe Evox file.

Does anybody know how to sign the Evolution X dashboard file? (default.xbe)

that's why i got into the business of signing my own boot loader cd that disables the reset on eject too.
all you do is buy my majick boot loader version 1.2 for $10 and pop it into the xbox, then replace the disk once it loads saying Majik Shro0m, with your backup disk

Seriously though; signing is not enough, unless it's signed by MS it will not work on any Xbox.

And before you go on about how we have nothing better to do with our time then jump on people for asking questions, thats what happens when you ask such a naive question in a 'Development' forum.

There are ways to run unsigned code without a chip or flashed tsop, but it is not as simply as your plan suggests. Read the tutorials on the 2 exploits forums for more info.

So then maybe somebody would be kind enough to tell me how exactly MS makes it to where there programs run and ours dont.

For instance, how is it that they sign it? Do they use pretty much the same procedure as signing font or audio explots and only using a different key or is it something completely different, like putting a different character in an xbe every 10 bytes.

Also, should this top secret encryption method be displayed in the stock bios? Unless the motherboard decrypts the bios that decrypts the xbe code, I think the bios have all the information I need. In fact, I'm going to the usual place right now to get a copy of some normal bios.

I'm sorry. I just find it kind of hard to believe that after 3 and 1/2 years nobody is able to break MSs silly little code...

Ok let me make myself a little more clear then.

First off, I asked this question here because you are all programmers and I thought you might have an idea of how this could be done. I guess I was wrong so let me move on...

Next, I'm trying to develope a hack that lets you more or less download my version of evox.iso, burn to a CD-RW, stick it in any xbox, and have it load Evolution X with no problem. There seems to be a problem with this however:

I don't know MS's Code for signing Apps.

The only programs we have for signing so far are for the Font, Audio, and gamesave explots. We dont have any for signing apps. Why?

Nobody seems to know the key MS uses to sign these with. Thus since I feel like Ive just repeated myself, It should eb very clear as to what I;m trying to do and why I can't.

So in conclussion, if somebody would like to help me with figuring out how to make homebrew apps or dashboards run on any unmodded XBox simply by putting the disk in the drive, it would be very appreciated.
