I have a debug build of halo... but I don't want to distribute it to just anyone... so I'll need some proof of who you are before I donate.

Why do you need someone else? If you have debug halo + debug kit, you can copy the contents of the debug halo to your pc and then use the xISO tool to build an xISO of the halo file. Then, you can do the same thing with a regular version of Halo and then use ppf factory or other program and make an a ppf file that will patch the retail version of the halo.iso so that becomes more like the debug_halo.iso

Can't get that on a laptop now can you? Although you can get laptop's custom made w/ video-in, it is rare. Since I would still like to be able to take screen caps on my laptop, a dev bios is the only option for me

Careful man, talk is cheap. I wouldn't trust anyone as far as I could throw them  grr.gif There is no reason he couldn't do everything himself. He probably just wants to get someone's name and addy and shit. F*ck that!  mad.gif

Anyway, who cares? In a week we will probably have the 256K debug bios and then there won't be any need for this thread.

Apparently he did...one can assume he does not have the required skills to perform the necessary steps, or else he would not have asked for another to do it for him.

I didn't ask anyone to do anything for me. I merely said that if someone were interested I'd donate the xbe to them. I really have no interest in this since I have my own copy. Also I can give you a little proof.
A link to my old ebay auction page.
Pay extra close attention to the screeny that shows debug output. Also, have fun trying to get third person or some of the other screeny's without a debug build. Who said I don't know how to build an iso? Vince, we can all tell you're a little jealous of me for having this... but don't resort to insults. Just take it like a man.

wink.gif Frankly, I don't really care. If I really wanted, I could probablypfull a few strings and possibly get one for myself, although it'd be hard dry.gif

I was merely trying to warn someone from giving away information they might not want to. You have provided proof, I guess, so best of luck to him. But, like I said, this thread will most likely be useless in about a week.

**Edit**

Is taking 3rd person screenshots a feature of the debug kit like the emulation thing? Or is it a feature of the bios? Cause if it is part of the debug kit, that ability and the emulation ability may just be the motivation I need to actually want to get a debug kit. If anyone else would like one as well, pm me and make me an offer biggrin.gif

no. How would a third person feature be a part of a debug kit or a bios? It's merely part of the xbe. I was just proving that I had the debug xbe and debug kit. Also, you couldn't have known this but the debug xbe and the retail xbe are not the same size, so ppf engines do not want to compare the two.

EDIT: You don't have any use for an xdk anyways as you're not a coder. The debug kit will not run retail games and you cannot patch them to debug and make them work. The only way to make the debug kit do anything is to actually make some software yourself or have someone send you a debug executable.

interesting....you are right, the debug kit would be worthless. But can you answer this? Do debug games play on retail kits? Cause then I could just get the debug games and that would accomplish what I want.

some may, but I believe that most will not. Halo for sure won't. I've already tried with it. There are a couple of things that cause it and then after I tell you why the game fails, you will be able to determine if it will work or not. Debug games have different entry points than retail. You must change the xor to correspond with the xbox you are using thus the patching to retail/patch to debug. That's really no problem. The real problems are retail games have a certificate that is digitally signed by M$, and executables that require more than 64 mb of memory. The debug kit will instantly rejects signed games. The debug executables obviously aren't signed so if they don't require more than 64 mb of memory then they should run when patched to retail.
