Hey,

I currently have the TATX Debug Bios on my tsop with the Complex 4627 Dash.  I mainly just use the XDK to do screen and video captures.  Anyway, I wanted to get some screens of Halo, but I can't get it to launch when the debug bios is loaded.  From the XDK Dash, I have a link to MXM, so I boot all of my apps and games from there.   Other games loaded with no problem, but when I went to Halo, it freezes everytime.  I tried to boot from the disc and from boxplorer but no luck.  What seem to be the problem?

It's a well known issue.

Halo and a few other games do not like any BIOS over 256K (this includes the 4978 X2 BIOS which had the FTP built in).

It's not so much the XDK or the Debug BIOS, but the size of the BIOS.

No a real debug will not play your retail version of halo even after being patched to debug since it has been digitally signed. If you can figure a way to remove the signatures from the certificate then you will be able to run it. If you can figure that out... let all the rest of us know. tongue.gif

That's strange, because on the other half of my tsop (512k), i have the x2 4980.67 bios running, and Halo boots fine.

thats because its a 256k bios mirrored twice to fit into 512k of space and not a true 512k bios

Ah, I see.  So I guess running Halo on this bios isn't going to happen  laugh.gif .  Thx for the help anyway.

like brienj (from xbox-saves) and someone else
but they have no idea why it works for them sad.gif

i find that if i load up halo with the x2 bios first, turn off the xbox, switch on over to the debug bios, i can load up halo properly and the game seems to run fine.
but unfortunately i still can't take any screenshots or video capture while i'm in the game...

hmm... I really hate to be one to bump my own post or hijack a thread but is there anyone else out there thinking of intresting halo xbe hacks?

I mean is there any known beta builds of halo out there? I know this is a launch title so there wasnt a very long period of time the developers to make builds for the final xbox hardware, and I would be even more intrested in seeing a build for the alpha XDK.

hmm if we can find a debug build of halo (very unlikely)  we could build it into an xiso,  then make a ppf of it from the retail version.  now that would be great

I have a debug build of halo... but I don't want to distribute it to just anyone... so I'll need some proof of who you are before I donate.
