Basiclly I was thinking, it would be nice to have a program that could could decompress .zip/.rar files on the xbox hard drive. Then we could store not that often used files in a compressed state to save space on the hard drive (for those people with the standard 8 gig drive). We could also fit more onto a standard 8 meg memory card. Also it would be nice to create self extracting archives that would decompress the files to wherever we want (instant installer for exploits and programs, etc..).

What do u guys think about it, could it be done succesfully ??

I wasnt aware that Avalaunch could unzip/unrar files, I will have to have to give it a try, thanks for the info.

It would still be nice to have an idependant program to do it, for all those people who dont use Avalaunch

I just gave it a try, It took me a little bit of reading to understand how to set it properly (it has good documentation), i got it setup as a program now, but can you write scripts for it ?? havent seen it anywhere yet ??

to set it as a prog all i did was create a folder called Avalaunch in F: and put a link in my evox.ini.... Item "Avalaunch Dash", "F:\Avalaunch\default.xbe" also put in a link to evox in avalaunch in thee xml file so you can get back to evox without restarting

Okay, I've given a hint but never really explained it, till now

. UnleashX support zipping and unzipping right from within your xbox. Yeah, it doesn't support rar, just zip format.

In Avalaunch, go into the FileManager and select a ZIP/RAR file... hit the start button and a context menu will pop up allowing you to do the uncompression. I know that ZIP works great... RAR support is limited at best. Avalaunch doesn't support doing the compression - yet - just the decompression.

I've played around with UnleashX and think it is a great and simple dash - but I have never tried the ZIP/UNZIP cababilities yet... but since this is a very solid dashboard, I wouldn't think there would be any problems if it supported..
