A Debug XBox is an XBox with special system software (different dashboard, different kernel, and extra software called the XDK Launcher) that's used to write your own software for the XBox. It can't play retail games, and is only of use to programmers.

They are hard to get, since they normally have to be licensed from MS at $10,000 per user -- in fact, reselling said kits is somewhat of a legal gray area, although MS hasn't cracked down on it thus far. It's definitely true that reselling a kit without a license is pointless from a legal standpoint, since distributing unlicensed software for the XBox is probably illegal (depends on how the EULA is interpreted legally).

Most people who are doing XBox development do so by loading a modified version of the Debug BIOS onto their retail machine (either via a modchip or via the Phoenix BIOS Loader) along with the XDK Launcher.

Cause XDK Consoles are not so important now , you can easy convert a Retail Xbox that you can find at ebay for $80 and up and convert it into a XDK Console.

ok , my final offer $85 + shipping , and show a picture of the XDK Console.

all i really want is the case , i can then give the rest to my cousin so he can play with it.

edit: it looks like a normal xbox but has a sticker on the back that says xbox debug kit and also the dash looks very different. It has the following programs on it: Dolphin, Insight, and many others (I'll have to check more on this when I get home).

well there are 3 versions of XDK Consoles , one is the Prototype Xbox , the other one is a Green Xbox Console and the other one is a Clear Xbox Console

if is the Clear one , ill give you $50 for the case , you can sell the other stuff then , the most important part of a XDK Console is the Motherboard , you can get $150 for that on ebay , maybe more

vmehta211: just so you dont get ripped off, you can get 250-300 for that easy if you find someone that has a use for it. Many times, people are willing to make a deal, trading a modded xbox for the debig kit. Just dont sell it for 80 bucks or whatever.

Then is not an XDK Console , XDK Consoles look like a Retail Xbox , but the color of the case is different , the first XDK is Clear Green , the new one is totally clear it doesnt have color , so if you say is black with XDK Stickers then somebody put those stickers on a Retail Xbox.

if you bought that Xbox for $500 you have been ripped off.

THAT CONSOLE IS NO XDK IS A RETAIL XBOX , in other words is a FAKE XDK Also XDK COnsoles have 128mb ram while retail only has 64mb ram.

On the upper left you see that the sticker is peel off , that sticker is not the original and has been opened

On the upper left you see that the sticker is also coming off , it has been opened , also look at the date , no XDK Console was released in 2002 , the first XDK the transparent green one was released in 2001 , while the Clear was released near Feb 2003.

You dont take very good care of that console do you , look at those scratches, there are only two XDK consoles , the green one and the Clear one , theres no black XDK Console ,that console is a regular Xbox with probably a chip installed or a TSOP flash , and it has XDK Software cause an XDK Recovery Disk was used on it or the files were tranfered , sorry man , nobody wil buy you that console for more than $300 , also EBAY will remove that , the last two XDK i saw on Ebay where cancelled.
