For people having problems with the size you could use winrar and rar the iso if you use best compression it should shrink it a good bit.

To those who think newbies should NOT use Slayers tool because they dont learn anything.

I was a newbie. I used Slayers tool and it put a smile on my face immediately. Its a great tool.

Subsequently I have learnt enough to update most of the apps that were installed, changed my dash, installed emulators, written a thumbnail generator  etc..

The point I am trying to make is that all the time it was possible because Slayers tool gave me an easy entry point and therefore gave me enough free time to learn new things one step at a time.

Why would you NOT want to use a time saving tool and use the time saved to do new and interesting things. Reinventing the wheel is a good academic exercise but does not do much for progress.

My 2.5 cents worth...

The same applies to a calculator.

If you use it instead of excersizing how to add/subtract/multiply, you wont ever learn to do all those things.

You will not learn until you do it yourself. This is a simple fact of life. I hear where you are coming from though, without the quick entry you may have lost interest or not learned at all? Well while this might apply to some situations (programming for one example) it does not apply to the xbox. If you want homebrew on your box you are going to do it regardless of whether you have some quick easy installation disc or not. Using the 'pop in and install a bazillion apps' method to me is the peak of apathy. When you need to update your box, are you really going to burn another slayers disc?

I've just always felt taking the easy way out, without actually learning anything, is certianlly not progression.

As someone who has watched this scene grow from the day it started, i've seen people do it the easy way, and do it the right way. The people who did it the easy way tend to come into *-help and still ask how to link evox. The people who did it the right way are the ones telling them how to do it.

Mind you this is in no way a bash of slayers. He's done a fantastic job on the coding, and has made a solid application that has made things easy for people.

PS-  Progression is a byproduct of learning, without learning there *is no progression*, and if there is one thing i have learned in life, it is that you do not truely know or learn something until you do it yourself/make the mistake.

Putting a disc in your xbox and pressing A A A A, is certianlly not learning  laugh.gif

You're mistaken in assuming that those of us who install Slayer's don't do anything beyond the A button. For many newbs, which included myself, who were more than willing to dig into it's ini configs and pick up some pointers on how to properly add text items and paths to apps it was a poor mind's paradise (mind you not a weak mind's just an undereducated one). You can virtually study it like a textbook and in time, with the basics commited to memory become your own Slayer. I'm more comfortable behind the Xbox wheel because of it and will not hesitate from this point on to do my own installs.

By the way, this is a respects paid endorsement, brought to you by Slayer's 2.2. Coming to an IP address near you. pop.gif
