Well it does what you want  laugh.gif or you could use MXM as dash and simply put passwords on files you don't want to be messed with e.g. apps

There is a second version being worked. He's completely rewriting it though, but I'm sure it won't be _too_ long.

For now, I suggest you play your Xbox 24/7 so no lamers ever get the chance to use it, and I'm not joking blink.gif

X-Select 0.6 is much better.

It has password protection on boot-up, and allows you to select your default dashboard with ease, as well as giving you quick access to other dashboards and apps.

Oh.... and considering you don't know about X-Select, it wouldn't be surprising you didn't realize there are OTHER DASHBOARDS.... try looking at Avalaunch and Media X Menu (MXM) when you get X-Select installed - there's absolutely NO reason not to. Evo-X sucks hard when it comes to the UI; absolutely BORING.

Btw, BenJeremy, why would you think that because he doesn't know about X-Select he doesn't know about other dashboards? I've hardly heard X-Select mentioned at all.

It's been out for a while now. Pretty cool app that lets you select from up to 8 different dashes (as soon as more than four homebrew ones comes out, it accomodate selecting them) at bootup, or you can select from 8 different apps to start up on the get-go. Password feature is cool, make it as long or as short as need be.

Yeah, I know what it is. But I've only seen it mentioned, what, maybe 3 times where I've read anyway.

Hah hah... no, people have been bugging me for some time for a password app, and with all the dashboard choices, and all-in-one solution seemed appropriate. wink.gif

I won't knock XPass, but let's face it, X-Select is a spiffy program.  biggrin.gif  It was really more of a synchronicity thing, as I had been bugging a friend to get on this project for quite some time, and ended up starting it myself to jump-start him.

Well, he only mentions he'd like something to launch "Evo-X", so it's kind of clear he's not really looked at anything else.

That's a shame too... because Avalaunch and MXM have much more to offer and both will have a complete superset of functionality offered in Evo-X before too long.

The fact he only mentions EvoX doesn't make it clear at all. I'm sure there are lots of people who have chosen EvoX over the other dashes. It may have an ugly UI to you, but maybe that's not the point...

Anyway, isn't this point mute as both of these applications can be bypassed by using software off a disc which is what he originally asked about.

Yeah, but that can't be stopped by a simple application.

To prevent DVD bootup, you have to fiddle with the BIOS.

Yes obviously, I was just stating the whole conversation was pointless as the original answer should have been it isn't possible currently.

Edit: Actually I have just been informed that XbTool (I knew that the program must do something if it releases every 5 minutes) has the ability to do this if you change the xbe which is looked for on the DVD drive to something other than default.xbe it won't find it and will load up to the dash.
