Hi BenJeremy , It's been a long time , how are you ?

A long time coming but against what some at TX have said in the past it can be done and a big 'hats off' to Complex for proving it. I would guess that once they release a patch for the kernel to do their GFX that any 3D artist of any worth would be able to reverse engineer the vertice code and replace it with almost any anim and logo ( space permitting ) unless Complex are mean enough to release the patch as a complete bios. Then a programmer would be needed to detach the vertice code from the programming code.

Regards

Timbo

Yes, as Complex seems to be suddenly active in the development realm again (latest XDK was 'cracked' by them, removing the digital signature), I'm thinking they will be kind enough to make the info available for all.

Hey BenJeremy, do you think it would be possible to even add some more vertices to the "X" to create a new schape? Oh yeah, BTW, what are the BIOS made with? What proggy? XDK?

The XDK is not designed to create BIOS code. There would be specialized tools that M$ has to do some things, but mostly standard tools to generate firmware for intel platforms are used. M$ deals with this a lot in it's "Platform Builder" suite of tools used by OEMs of WindowsCE devices, for example... Iwas involved with such development on an Intel Pentium-based CE device a few years ago.

As for adding vertices, it's possible... the base location could be changed to another location, though this would add to the size of the BIOS - there may be patches required in code as well, to alter hard-coded array sizes, and also fix-ups and such would need to be altered.

Yeah, but then we could just take out some other junk and make an awesome looking figure.

Well, did Team Xecuter use the same software as MS to make their BIOS?

Dunno what tools they are using. As they have not done a LOT of patching, I think it's safe to say they are not, and that the tools are relatively a pain-in-the-ass to use.

Where could you download the video of the Complex animation?

Just a thought: The 'X' is stored as a series of vertices, and the flubber intro uses vertices. If we can change the colour of the 'X', why can't we change the colour of the flubber, or its lights?

The colour of flubber was one of the very first hacks on the xbox guys - its so old you'd have to search for it. xbtool lets you set the colors of all these things.
