Flash
« on: June 06, 2003, 08:11:00 AM »

Hey everyone, I was wondering if there has been any testing or exploration of using flash to make a dashboard, it’s a pretty cool idea.
I work in flash for a living, and it is capable of reading xml data and pulling .jpg for backgrounds...
This would be nice because it could add a lot of gui~eye candy, animated sub menus ect.
Don’t flame me if this is a stupid question, I’m just curious.

where can i go to get documentation on developing for the xbox,
flash can export to an .exe file.
some of the programers i work with seem to think if you can convert an emulator or computer game to work on the xbox then the same may be possible with this.
there are many flash decompilers out there and im willing to give this a shot unless anyone can give me a good reason that it would be a waste of time.

thanks for any help

:::sigh::::

Please, do NOT second guess programmers. This topic has been explored in the past (Why is it people seem to forget the 'search' button in waves?)

An EXE is not the same as an XBE, nor is Win32 the same as Xbox, in terms of APIs and such. A Flash Exe only contains a fraction of the actual code used to animate and manipulate flash. The remainder is embedded in a multitude of DLLs that accompany the OS or are part of the Flash redistributable.

I have, myself discussed this subject in previous posts. Recap: There are no rendering libs out there, only one PD Flash parser (which is a small bit of what's needed). I might tackle it someday, but it's VERY low on my list of priorities, and even done, it would be barely functional.

If you want a multimedia dash, Media X Menu (MXM) is it for now. It has quite a few nice 'multimedia' features, which grow with every release, including video and music.
