Hi, Game Programmer Looking For A Little Help...

If you are a game programmer, I wouldn't have thought you would say "id like to know is how i put the xdk onto my newly chipped xbox".

If you were using a debug Xbox at work surely you would know how to do this, or at least you could read the docs.

Anyway, you'll probably want the cracked XDK Launcher (although I don't think it's needed) and you should put xbdm.dll on your e: drive. Then you can use Xbox Neighborhood to view your Xbox and debug through VS.net.

You don't put the actual XDK on the Xbox. The XDK is the developers kit on the PC. You just run the compiled .xbe on the Xbox. You can just use the standard HD fine.

If you have an x2pro installed then you can switch BIOSes easily and then the Xbox can be for the kids.

If you plan on using any of the latest XDKs (Feb03/April03) then you'll need VS.Net as MS have already abandoned VS6.

Just upgrade the Matrix with a Chameleon then and get the extra bios memory banks.

I'm sorry... I know this has nothing to do with your question but could you give a hint or just tell what you're developing? If you would contact me personally and chat I would appreciate it and I would keep your information confidential.. I understand your inevitable reluctance to do so but I would be greatful if you would chat with me.

Well, 5344 and 5455 are definitely .Net only so I suppose you shouldn't upgrade to them unless it's just for home dev and you've got VS.Net handy.

Tried the xbdm.dll advice tonight and I couldnt get the debugger to attatch and run the compiled xbe.

Is this the right way to do things without actually dumping the recovery disk onto it and making it a proper debug kit? As i said its a family xbox so i cant do this as it'll wipe the HD.

How are other people connecting the debugger to the xbe's?

I wouldnt think that method would work thinking about it as starting a debug session involves a warm reboot into the game and a reboot with no disk in would take it to the evo-x dashboard wouldnt it?

Any help appreciated, thanks.
