First of all... DONT USE THE DEVKIT RECOVERY CD !!!!!

it WILL break your XBOX !!!! IF you have already done this, go here to get app to fix it: [TEAM ASSEMBLY]

Here are the steps to get debugging up and running.. and btw, you DONT need 128mb nor the Debug Dashboard....

1. Get OpenXBOX/PCBioxx or any other 512KB or bigger modchip
2. Install it and flash Complex 1.03 DEBUG (has to be debug version of bios)
3. Install the XBOX SDK (Dont ask where to get it, I dont know and I dont have it)
4. Get the XBDM.DLL file from sdk install directory SDKxboxsymbolslatest
5. Put this XBDM.DLL file on your XBOX Drive E:
6. Create a Directory called Devkit on E:
7. Create an .ini file called xbdm.ini in this new E:Devkit directory, leave the file empty..
8. Reboot XBOX and it should get an IP address from DHCP, then connect to this IP in the Explorer Extentions and set it as you default xbox connection..

Now you can create a VS 6.0 XBOX Application project, specify a Remote executable path as XE:Whateverappname.xbe, then use this new dhcp IP for remote debugging.. (there are ways to specify a static IP in the .ini file, but i dont know how)

Oh, and the Complex 1.03 DEBUG will actually let you use all standard retail applications and games as well

Also please note: I havent done this myself, since I dont have the SDK, but i heard rumours that this might work

x

I found Undead's post on the subject.

:::shakes head:::

Why do people do these things???

You are pretty well screwed until you get a mod chip capable  of handling a 512k Debug BIOS. That means you need to get an X-ecutor2 Lite, Pro or a PC Bioxx/Niteoxx chip and install it.

Your EEPROM is screwed up, and retail BIOSes (Original Flava, Evo-X D.6 and X2) will not boot. Only a Debug BIOS will boot with the EEPROM messed up.

Your OZxChip is a cheap mode (256k), and you can't externally program it anyway, so yes, you are screwed with that one.

biggrin.gif from what ive read so far, it messed up when it tried to flash your eeprom, but i might be wrong. i'd say fit your chip with a debug bios, run config magic and fix the eeprom (but i doubt you'll be able to restore the original unless you had a backup from evox or something) then try booting it again. if you're using a lpc mod dis connect it and it should boot up like normal. (cuz if you're using a homebrew/enigmah it just patches the bios, it doesnt containt a whole new one) then do what marmite says.

To fixed your pooched box, go here for directions to fix it with a matrix.

Get EvoX_MatriX_TSOP_flash.zip and an original bios (look at the mobo for the version you need, a sticker with "KERNEL XXXX" will tell ya) from the *usual places*, and make sure the original bios is on the cd.

YOu need to use something to rewrite your eeprom, it sounds like it got fried.....

Im almost positive that team assembly came out with a tool that will rewrite eeproms that have no video display (exactly like yours).  If I remember right, you put the disk in, and hold a key combo and it re-writes the eeprom for you.......I remember seeing something about it in these forums...

biggrin.gif

So how did I do it in the end?
After reading all the replies, I did the following:

1> Loaded X2Pro with Complex Debug BIOS 1.03 - (Note: this may not fire on a 1.1 box, so perhaps use the Team Assembly release for 1.0 and 1.1 boxes wink.gif )
2> Set it up in the dead box and fire up XBox - Hey Presto! It fires up!! (...but we are not yet finished...)
3> Load EvoX Dash to give us the FTP capability to the XBox now that we can fire it up.
4> FTP/copy the saved eeprom.bin file from the e: drive or f: drive
(NOTE: I STRONGLY recommend that EVERYONE backs up this using Config Magic Final BEFORE ANY nasty recovery discs get even close to your XBOX!)
5> I decided to use the Eeprommer tool. You need to copy the eeprom.bin backup into the /Data folder. (See Instructions with that app) I could not get Config Magic Final to recog. my XBox version, even when I forced it (See readme of that app for more info on that...)
6> Create a copy of the .XBE file and rename it Default.xbe as we are going to write a CD...
7> Using GDFImage (see tuts on using this...), create an ISO image of the App.
8> Insert CD, boot XBox (with Debug bios) and you should be prompted with instructions. Press the B button, and that's it!!!!
9> Turn off box, and disable the X2Pro (switch 4). Turn back on and see if it boots normal BIOS. If so, ALL COOL!!!  biggrin.gif

Now I must send a big thanks to all those who responded to my post. Without your help, the box would truly be TOAST.  beerchug.gif
If anyone needs any info on this, I am MORE than willing to help - just drop me a PM.

I am off to burn that nasty Recovery DVD now... LOL   rolleyes.gif
