Im New To This, But...
« on: March 05, 2003, 05:17:00 AM »

I know this isnt really Development, but its the only place I though that might know the answer.

I am starting to write many tutorial on the XBOX.
How to install this, that etc etc

I am after being able to screen shot the xbox during certain stages etc etc, and as far as im aware, you can only do this on a debug xbox.

I have heard that there is a complex bios ( i think thats what is was called ) that could do this.

Is it just this bios that makes the xbox a debug xbox ?
And if so is that all that i need ?
Also is it able to run on a 512k bank, as i still want to be able to use the xbox as a normal box with my standard X2 bios too.( 2x 512k bios`s )
( not sure it that is clear ?? )

If there is anything else i need to do this, it would be much appreciated if you could say what i need.
Also as far as im aware, i dont actually need a XDK to do this,... IS that correct.

TIA

[edit]

I have a v1.1 box
Just notice i have to have this bios (TATX Dual - V1.0 and V1.1 - run debug and retail)

But the same above questiosn still apply

thanks

Wait a sec... you're writing tutorials and you don't know how the BIOS functions?  I don' t know about that.

Anyway, to answer your question, yes, you currently need a debug bios to take screenshots (although a couple apps like EvoX do have a screenshot function built-in).

I do know how the bios functions, i was just double checimg
I want to take screen shots of installs not of the dashboard, so it wont be installed at this poitn

YOu know, mid install of linux etc etc, or during an install of something else

You get the jist ?

So i can take screen shots within evox already i know that, but it is of no use to me.

So does the debug box bios thing capture screen shots of programs running ?

That is what i meant

Regarding the think about bios sizes, i meant, is the debug bios 1mb or 512kb or 256kb etc etc, As i want the other 1 512kb bank for my normal bios so i can switch between the 2, providing the debug bios is 512k or smaller..

I dont know if im making sence here or not ?

YES, Our TATX Debug runs on V1.0 and V1.1
YES, You can take screen shots while any programs are running.. (except linux, they replace the kernel in memory)
YES, Our TATX Debug BIOS is 512kb big..

cheers
