why do you guys feel its needed to talk about things you have no idea about ???

Stop.

The "flubber animation" is not stored in the bios (try a search maybe), and that other part really isnt how low level code works ok, (again maybe a search)

I'm sure theres some sort of way to figure out how to do this...eventually. Really what you would need is something that can choose between BIOS .BIN files on your hard drive in a certain place (C:BIOS ?) and have it send that code to the memory bank where the BIOS is stored during run-time.

That is assuming the Xbox doesnt make any calls at all to the TSOP or LPC during Runtime, and only does it at boot...but...I don't know how possible that kinda thing really is. Wheres Cherry or Undead when you need them? laugh.gif

A degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering, 2 years windows development and 1 year embedded tends to make me think that I know enough to at least talk about it. Do you need me to post a CV before I post a message?

Who died and made you god? Get over yourself.

Thats probably why the animation would be left in.

I dont really know what you mean by this. It is perfectly feasible that code in the bios could be used to access the hard drive and load extra plugin modules.

First off you need to "get over yourself."

Second this is NOT possible. The first thing the boot process on the Xbox does is check the chip (TSOP or modchip if installed) then it runs the BIOS off the chip which then checks all hardware, then excutes the dashboard. (well in a nutshell anyway)

At the point where the bios jumps off to load the dashboard additional code could be added to load a file (possible a dll or some other known format). After the file is loaded the dashboard could be loaded as usual.

I'm sure that there are some interesting functions in the bios that could be hooked and overridden.

Anyway, the point is that at the point that the dash is loaded the kernel is fully initialised and we (or at least somebody with the inclination to do it) could inject any code to do anything we want. Just because we are running from the bios does not reduce the scope of what we can achieve (other than the fact that we probably have a size limitation of 1Mb).

You do know that the Xecuter team is making a 512k BIOS that calls C built libraries....
If the interface was made public, plug-ins could be developed by skilled coders.  wink.gif

Is it possible to have a bios that nothing more than the flub and 4 plugin bases. 1,2,3,4

Then the plugin bases can access code on your hardrive for its commands.?

Thanks

Why? what can we do with this we can't already do?

Yes, it is possible, but one of the 4 would need to be devoted to the multiBIOS.

And it will be live compatible if one of the other 3 is an orignal BIOS... since the kernel isn't modified. (as long as live is compatible when the original BIOS is first... I think some newb would have accidently tested this by now).

It might actually be handy, but not newbie safe  sad.gif

I'll take a look at it... I'll try to control the address such that it can start kernels from either the first 512KB or following 256KB.

Its impossible

I can't find a way to deal with the kernel extraction  sad.gif

I re-packed a 256k to 512k, such part of it will read more than 256k, but I cant seem to get any further than that, and to get this to work I would have to do a lot more than that.

lol.....everyone sounds retarded in here, if you really wanna know an answer why not email an authority on something like this such as numbnut or even undead or cherry.  They have extensive knowledge of the bios and boot process, and I have a strange feeling that they would make you all look....well.....silly.  I have no idea either, but these are the people I would ask instead of making dumb comments that have no technical merit whatsoever......

I like how people come in here saying its impossible, but then again didn't people say that about many other things that came true in the past? Never say its impossible, thats gonna get you nowhere.

everyone knows that before you do anything you've got to work out wether its viable.

I'm not going to embarrass myself with undead with something thats impossible.
