Debug Kit Won't Install
« on: February 12, 2003, 06:42:00 PM »

Hey. I downloaded the XDK and tried to install it, but I got two error messages that read "The XBOX_XDK_JUNE2002_BUILD4627.EXE file is linked o mssing export KERNAL32.DLL:GetFileSizeEx" and "A device attached to the system is not functioning" I tried to indtall thi file on a different computer, and I got the same problem. I then re-downloaded the XDK from a different source and tried to install it, with the same results. I don't have the C++professional editon installed yet, just the regular edition. I have searched on this topic with no helpful results. Can anyone help?

Are you using Windows 2000 or XP?

Windown ME

:::sigh:::

Just today, I was reading a recent issue of 3D World where a reader was very upset that a full version of Houdini 3D included with an earlier issue didn't work with his Windows ME machine.

Of course, nobody does serious 3D work on anything less than a Windows NT machine.

The same can be said of development work, particularly Xbox development.

It's OK, really, go ahead and upgrade to a real OS (Win2000). There is no reason, other than the burning desire to run "Megarace", to run a 'toy' operating system in the Win9xME family.  wink.gif

Win2k runs all the windows games, and will give you much less grif in the long run.

Sounds like it could work. I'm upgrading to XP within the next 2 weeks, so I'll just have to wait.
