« on: January 28, 2003, 07:47:00 AM »

Hiya Guys,

Just a quick question,

Don`t know if this is possiable, im not a developer or in anyway technical, but its just an idea that maybee someone would work on or to see if anyone is working on so that I can look  at some info on it

Question :-

Is there a program on the Xbox that can encode a DVD directly into a DivX format directly to an upgraded HDD ??
Useful for ppl without a computer, but have an upgraded HDD on the Xbox maybee ???

I dont know if this is poss of if it can Even be done

But some feedback on this issue would be appreciated,,
Many Thanks

I'm sure there must be dvd ripping utils for linux out there, don't see why you couldn't use one of those.  The only problems would be speed and that the files would end up on a linux file system rather than fatx (so you would have to play them back on linux).
