Maybe I am mistaken, but I believe Midi requires harware to run, not just something that can be emulated through a software layer.
Like with the soundblaster card for example it has a seperate MPU processor specifically for Midi. If Midi could be emulated that easily then Bochs would have supported Midi for all the old Dos games.
The XBOX does not have hardware support for Midi. There is really no point since none of the games would make use of it.

MIDI is so dated now that it doesnt take much power to emulate it on a pc.  there are many software based MIDI programs used for production.
e.g http://www.yamaha.co...ml/h_featur.htm

but i dont recall ever seeing in game MIDI emulation ever take off, as by the time we had that much processor power, we also had CD music! ... and we also wanted to use all processing power on the graphics side of things!

so urm.. basicly i think it would be possible to make a MIDI player to play kareoke files and stuff like that...  but to be honest i would hope that something as evil as MIDI kareoke never makes it onto the xbox wink.gif

Dude! ,

I have gone one better!

1) Download or ripp CDG files, (these are the proper karaoke files used in pubs and bars across the globe)
2) Convert to AVI using CDG2AVI (http://www.untiedknot.co.uk)
3) Add the MP3 stream using Vitualdub
4) Play on the XBOX using XBMP

You will have a 100% real karaoke jukebox, the files are only about 5-6meg so you can fit thousands on even a default HD.

Add a mike and your off and running!
