I am guessing there is no error code correct?  You need to lock your HD in order fo it to boot the M$ Dash! (as far as I know)  That is what I did when I had the same exact problem.  In order to lock your HD just simply go to the Flash BIOS screen and select "Lock HD" (that is how i did it on my X3) not sure if it is the same

In the top let-hand corner of the screen it reads 05...is that any help?
I realy dnt have a clue about flashbios and stuff like dat, i just paid a friend of a friend to put a chip+hard-drive in.

I dnt kno how to get to the flashbios screeen. I did try going in to system settings and there was an option there that said bout a security lock being OFF on the hard-drive but i cant change this!

Plz,any help you guys can offer is greatly appreciated, thanx!

hi spartan.
turn the chip on and flick the right hand chip switch over, then turn on the xbox.
you should get a blue flashbios screen
scroll down with a M$ controler to lock hard drive.
select that.
flick the right switch back and the chip off.
reboot the xbox

Do you mean the furthest right switch? The bank switch(mine is currently set to 2) or the flash protect switch?

If i do this and reboot the xbox with the chip turned off should the MS dash boot up?

Also, on my evoX dashboard there is a heading that says bios: Unknown?!

You say a friend of a friend put the Hdd in.

Does it even have the M$ dash on it? if so it still might not even BE lockable.

Chances are it is tho. In which boot to the bank of the chip you don't usually boot to and the Flashbios *should* come up.

If it doesn't then your best bet is to use some app like ConfigMagic.

I tried changin the bank switch over and nofin happened! Whenever i switch on the xbox and the evox dashboard boots up it says my bios are unknown, this doesnt sound right does it? I can stil access the M$ dash thru an option for changin clock settings. Where can i find configmagic?
